WATERVILLE, Maine — No charges are expected to be filed after police found a 2-year-old boy wearing only a diaper screaming on a porch a few houses down from his babysitter’s house Monday.
The toddler had apparently wandered outside his babysitter’s house, down Silver Street and onto the porch around 8:45 a.m. Monday, according to Waterville Deputy Chief Charles Rumsey.
A neighbor who lives across the street from the residence heard the child screaming and called police, according to Rumsey.
Police knocked on doors throughout the neighborhood showing pictures of the boy, and after about a half an hour of searching, Sgt. Dan Goss was stopped by a woman who was identified as the boy’s aunt.
“She was babysitting for him and other [kids]. He slipped out of a door that was left unsecured that allowed him to get out,” Rumsey explained.
The aunt’s apartment where she was babysitting the child is located a couple of doors from where the toddler was found, Rumsey said.
The boy was taken to the police station and attended to by records clerk Judy LaPlante while police searched for his home, according to Rumsey. He was not injured.
No charges are expected to be filed against the boy’s aunt.

wow….did she not notice he was missing? If police had time to bring the boy to the police station, and go door to door looking for his home, thats an AWFUL long time that the aunt didnt realize a 2 year old was missing. I would be extremely hesitant to allow her to baby sit again.
