HAMPDEN – Katherine Colleen Hunt, 53, died unexpectedly July 27, 2012, at her home. She was born Feb. 5, 1959, in Mineola, N.Y., daughter of James and Joan (Riccardo) Purcell.
Katherine received her associate degree in applied sciences from Eastern Maine Community College and majored in welding. She went on to work for General Electric Corp. for 22 years, welding turbines. She enjoyed crafts of all sorts, but was particularly fond of painting in oils and crocheting.
Katherine is survived by her mother, Joan Purcell of Tavernier, Fla.; daughter, Heidi Hall and husband, Matthew, of Iowa; grandson, Sage Braga; brother, Paul Purcell of California; sister, Penny Purcell of New Hampshire; and two nieces. She was predeceased by her father, James Quan Purcell; and brother, Patrick Purcell.
A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 3, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth. Interment will be at a later date. Gifts in her memory may be made to The Next Step, P.O. Box 1466, Ellsworth, ME 04605. Condolences may be expressed at
