ROCHESTER, N.H. — A man from Berwick, Maine, was indicted on a charge of theft by unauthorized taking for allegedly taking a Rochester woman’s generator and power cord in April.
He faces 3 ½ to seven years in prison and a fine up to $4,000 if convicted of the Class B felony.
Henry Mason Tinker, 26, of 9 Tiffany Lane, Berwick, was arrested April 9 by Rochester police when a woman living on Jamey Drive reported her generator was missing.
Police Capt. Paul Toussaint said the victim, known to Tinker, came home and found her shed open. She then phoned police to report the theft of a generator and a power cord. Toussaint said he could not reveal any more information “pretrial” as to how Tinker was arrested or what led to probable cause in the case.
Court documents also report Tinker was previously convicted of theft by unauthorized taking on Oct. 31, 2006 and shoplifting on Oct. 3, 2005, both out of Rochester Circuit Court.
Tinker is scheduled to appear in Strafford County, N.H., Superior Court for an arraignment on Thursday at 1 p.m.
An indictment is not an indication of guilt; it means a jury found sufficient evidence to warrant a trial.
