NEW SWEDEN – Dorcas M. Ketch, 76, died July 30, 2012, at a Caribou nursing facility. She was born Sept. 12, 1935, in Woodland, the daughter of the late Edwin A. and Mildred E. (Philbrick) Thomas.
She married Richard Ketch July 14, 1962. Dorcas was a graduate of the registered nurse program at New England Baptist Hospital, Boston, and from Barrington College, Barrington, R.I., with a bachelor’s degree in Bible and nursing. She worked the majority of her 40-year nursing career at Cary Medical Center, Caribou. She was active in the Women’s Mission Circle at Stockholm Baptist Church. She enjoyed knitting, hiking, putting puzzles together and gardening. She loved a rousing game of Chinese checkers and Scrabble with her daughter, granddaughter and sisters.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years; her daughter, Lynn and Arthur Michaud of Caribou; her granddaughter, Cara and Daniel Ramirez, and her great-granddaughter, Alexis Ramirez, of Rock Springs, Wyo.; three sisters, Edwina Barber of Bangor, Shirley Carson of Caribou and Christine Thomas of Santee, Calif.; sisters-in-law, Juanita Knowlton of Caribou and Myrtle and Marvin Post of Story City, Iowa; and brothers-in-law, Ward and Lois Ketch of Schuylkill Haven, Pa., and Phillip and Gloria Ketch of Woodland. She was predeceased by her parents; sister-in-law, Louise and John Judd; and brother-in-law, Dale and Juanita Ketch.
