OLD ORCHARD BEACH, Maine — A Massachusetts man who attempted to use counterfeit money at Palace Playland was arrested on Thursday, according to police.
Fernando Paniss III, 41, of Milford, Mass., allegedly attempted to pass three counterfeit $20 bills, according to Old Orchard Beach Deputy Chief Keith Babin.
The attendant notified her boss of the bills and notified police, Babin said.
Paniss was located a short time later near Palace Playland, and he had four counterfeit $20 bills in his possession, along with a white substance that turned out to be cocaine, Babin said.
Paniss was arrested and booked on charges of aggravated forgery and two counts of unlawful possession of a Schedule W drug.
Paniss was taken to the York County Jail, where he remained Friday afternoon. His criminal history includes convictions of larceny, assault and battery, shoplifting, domestic assault and battery and cocaine possession.

He must have thought the local yokels of Maine didn’t know what real money looks like anymore. We use EBT Cards now for our welfare, food stamps and WIC Coupons. Guess he should have passed his phony money in Massachusetts instead.
Hey, if President Odummer can print all the cash he wants, why can’t we as fine upstanding citizens do the same ? Where is all the HOPE & CHANGE ?
You can’t fool us Mainers. We are a very suspicious lot.
