BANGOR – Stanley N. Fowler, 86, died Aug. 2, 2012 at a Bangor hospital. He was born Dec. 16, 1925, in Howland, son of Ansil A. and Ethel (McLaughlin) Fowler.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II and served in the Pacific aboard the USS Bennington. He worked for 20 years for the State of Maine as a forest ranger. Stan loved to hunt and fish. He was a member of the American Legion, Veteran of Foreign Wars, Blue Masonic Lodge No. 128 and Maine Coast Baptist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Gertrude (Butler); sons, Gerald Fowler and wife, Marcia, of Michigan, Stanley “Lanny” D. Fowler and wife, Sheila, of Bangor; daughter, Trudy Fowler of Bangor; brothers, Ansil Fowler of Old Town, Orman Fowler and wife, Betty, of Milo; sisters, Velma Buxton of Bangor; grandchildren, Jerry, John, Andrew, Sean, James, Abigail, Nathan, Justin, Shana and Jordan “Scotty” Fowler and Nicholas Newenham and Lacey Smith; special friends, Phil and Becky Rossi and many great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be 3:30-5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6 at Maine Coast Baptist Church, Ellsworth, with Pastor Gerry Dill officiating. Interment will be at Nicolin Cemetery, Ellsworth.
