MARS HILL – Eugene Picard, 83, passed away Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, at a Mars Hill health care facility. Eugene was born Feb. 25, 1929, in Ashland, the son of Abel and Mary (Dechane) Picard.
Eugene worked for Maine Public Service for 39 years as a lineman. He served his country for three years as a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force in Tokyo, and another three years as a combat engineer in the U.S. Army during the Korean War in Panama. He was also a member of Presque Isle American Legion, Order of Masons and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Eugene is survived by his wife, Linda Picard of Mars Hill; two daughters, Kelley Wheeler and her husband, Gary, of Sidney and Deborah Norvell and her husband, Ken, of Danville, Calif.; two sons, William Picard and his wife, Colleen, of South Pasadena, Fla., and Michael Chadbourne and his wife, Karen, of South Portland; grandchildren, Jon Paul Theriault, Kristina McMillen, Kiley Norvell, all of Danville, Calif., Christian, Kevin and Clara Picard of South Pasadena, Fla., and Brittney Chadbourne of Dover, N.H.; a sister, Cleo Bernier of Ashland; many special nieces and nephews. He also will be missed by his special dog, Suzette.
A memorial service will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at Faith Baptist Church, Blaine, with Pastor Lawrence Beals officiating. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 170 U.S. Route 1, Suite 250, Falmouth, ME 04105. Interment will be held at a later date at King’s Grove Cemetery, Mars Hill.
