FORT FAIRFIELD – Maureen J. McCue, 73, wife of the late Donald H. McCue, passed away Tuesday morning, Aug. 7, 2012, at a Mars Hill health care facility after an extended illness. She was born Sept. 29, 1938, in Debec, New Brunswick, the daughter of Cecil and Elizabeth (Millar) Guy.
Raised in Littleton, Maureen graduated from Ricker High School, Houlton, in 1955 and was married to Donald H. McCue Nov. 2, 1956. She had been employed by Converse Shoe, Presque Isle, for many years until its closing, then became employed as a bus driver for Aroostook County Action Program Head Start for a number of years. She had been a member of Fort Fairfield Rifle and Pistol Club and a past member of Caribou Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary. A very social person, Maureen enjoyed dancing, bowling, card playing, traveling and camping.
In addition to her parents, Maureen was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Donald, April 1, 1999; three brothers, Donald, Hazen and Harold Guy; and three sisters, Phyllis Taylor, Lenore Weinberger and Marion Langley. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Terry D. and Ruth McCue of Greenbush; one daughter and son-in-law, Tammy J. and Ray Putnam of Mapleton; one stepson, James McCue and his wife, Joan, of Woodstock, New Brunswick; two brothers, Basil George Guy of North Carolina and Holden Guy of Barrie, Ontario; one sister, Gwen Gallagher of Woodstock, New Brunswick; one granddaughter, Alisha Smith; two great-grandchildren, Merideth and Rebecca Smith, all of Pittsfield, N.H.; numerous nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Maureen’s wishes, there will be no funeral services. Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Mrs. McCue to Central Aroostook Humane Society, 26 Cross St., Presque Isle, ME 04769. Arrangements have been entrusted to Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield.
