NEWPORT, Maine — A single-vehicle crash on Thursday afternoon resulted in a Benton man being taken to a local hospital, according to Newport police.
Kenneth Brown, 26, was heading northbound on Route 7 when his vehicle went into a ditch along the right side of the road, said Cpl. David Wintle. Police received the call at 12:21 p.m.
“He went into the ditch for about 200 feet before coming to rest,” said Wintle. “He rode in the ditch for a while, then went up over a driveway and came to a rest.”
Brown complained of pain and had some small abrasions, said Wintle. Brown was the only occupant in the vehicle.
He was taken by ambulance to Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield, where he was treated and released, according to a hospital spokesman.
“It’s unknown why [Brown ended up in the ditch],” said Wintle. “He doesn’t remember the accident at all.”
Brown’s 1994 GMC pickup was totaled, said Wintle. He was hauling an open trailer with some miscellaneous yard items on board.
The Newport Fire Department and SVH ambulance assisted at the scene. There are no charges pending, said Wintle.
No charges for a guy who does not remember how he wound up in a ditch, either you are hiding something and don’t want to admit to distraction, etc or there is a medical condition that perhaps should reduce or revoke the amount of time one spends on the road.
But the second you start stuttering at a cop, you need to be looked into for DUI
who are you to comment on something you clearly think you know more than you do. This guy is lucky to be alive and going home to his wife and daughter and so what if he was distracted, no one was hurt or killed and whatever had this man distracted, if anything, surely will be at the center of his focus and will influence future desicions. GOD kept this man alive today so stop running your mouth you caaaaahunt.
Speaking of people who think they know everything, I take it God gave you a call after accident, stopped in for dessert at your house today and said
“Man did you see that guy in the ditch in Newport today?, that’s right I kept him alive and you make sure you tell everyone I told you that too”
