OLD TOWN, Maine — A Glenburn man found slumped behind the wheel of his car over the weekend was charged with felony drug possession after police said they found oxycodone and drug paraphernalia in his possession.

Brandon Harvey, 31, was charged with unlawful possession of a scheduled drug, a Class C felony punishable by up to five years in prison, a fine of up to $5,000 or both, Old Town police Sgt. Scott Casey said Monday.

Harvey came to the attention of Old Town police Officer James Fearon about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, when he was called to the parking lot of McDonald’s restaurant on Stillwater Avenue to check on the well-being of a man who was slumped over inside a vehicle.

When he arrived, Fearon saw drug paraphernalia in Harvey’s vehicle, Casey said. A subsequent search turned up oxycodone.

Harvey’s arrest on Saturday was not his first. He was arrested by a Maine State Police trooper in October 2009 for driving three times the posted speed limit, according to the Bangor Daily News archives.

In that episode, Harvey allegedly passed a state police cruiser driven by Trooper Brian Bean and then tried to hide by ducking into a driveway to avoid capture. The trooper said Harvey was driving a Harvey Trailers company truck at a speed of 105 mph on Route 221 in Glenburn near the junction of Lancaster Brook Road. The speed limit there is 35 mph.

    1. You might be thinking about his brother that suffered a terrible death on Broadway for going about 50mph  over the speed limit a few years ago on his motorcycle. His body was found in many locations. You would think this kid, his surviving brother, would have learned. Good hard working parents too. Sad.

  1. Some people never get over tragic losses like that. I do not know if that is what is driving this man’s obvious stuggle with drugs, but it is a matter of time before he follows his brother’s fate if he continues to do what he is doing.
