ORRINGTON, Maine — The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a recent string of burglaries in which jewelry boxes were stolen.

The burglaries occurred over the past week and appear to be connected, Deputy James Kennedy of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department said Monday night.

Kennedy said that three of the break-ins happened in Orrington, another one was reported in Holden and all of them occurred during the daytime. He also said that the thief or thieves made off with entire jewelry boxes.

The deputy reminded homeowners to make sure their windows and doors are locked before they leave. He asked that anyone with information about the break-ins call the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department at 945-4636.

  1. Not everyone as a jewelry box. Sounds like someone who may have known or known something about the victims, rather than randomly breaking into houses?

Heard a story once where someone broke into their house and only took their nachos……

Or maybe other people didn’t notice the break ins…….

    Hope they find the perpetrator.

  2. Some thief breaks into my house to touch anything they get shot. That’s it. End of Story. Time to go to sleep, nighty night.

    1.  Oh no, watch out potential junky thieves reading the Daily. Bushfan sleeps with a 9mm under his pillow. He’s a tough guy. If you are going to rob him, best be a smart criminal and make sure he isnt home.
