FRANKFORT – Ada Ellen White, 89, passed away peacefully Aug. 12, 2012, surrounded by her loving family at a Bangor hospital. Ada was born May 30, 1923, in Prospect, to Roy H. and Elizabeth (Clark) Staples.
Ada grew up in Frankfort where she attended schools and was a graduate of Frankfort High School. She then attended Bangor School of Commerce. She was a devoted homemaker, not only raising her four sons and taking care of the home, but working on the family farm as well. She was a wonderful cook, baker and could crochet most anything. She was a faithful member of North Searsport United Methodist Church where she spent hours preparing for church suppers, enjoyed attending the women’s group and hosting the Thursday night prayer group. Ada’s greatest passion was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren alike. Ada will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister and friend.
Ada is survived by her four loving sons, Derek A. White and wife, Katherine, who Ada thought of as the daughter she never had, of Winterport, Devon White of Big Sky, Mont., Derwin White and wife, Babette, of Jefferson, and Drexell White and Gayle Koyanagi of Northport; stepson, Richard; stepdaughter, Terrie; sister, Evelyn Kingsbury of Frankfort; grandchildren, Darren, Jason and Jennifer White, Erica and James Archer, Matthew White and wife, Avery, and Benjamin White; great-grandchildren, Kevin White, Tyler Norris, Christine White, Maverick White, Garrett White, Shianne White, Taya Archer and Carter White; great-stepgrandchildren, Tre Archer, Blake Archer, Catherine Motley and Tom Boucher; special daughter-in-law, Karen Shute; cousins, Norris and Judy Staples; and a very special niece, Colleen Mitchell, who the family thanks for her wonderful care; as well as other nieces, nephews and cousins. Ada was predeceased by her parents; husband, Alden R. White Jr.; and brother-in-law, Dan Kingsbury.
A graveside service to celebrate Ada’s life will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, at Pilgrim’s Home Cemetery, Haley Road, Monroe, with Pastor Stephen MacLeod officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ada’s honor may be made to North Searsport United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 169, Searsport, ME 04974.
