BANGOR, Maine — The drummer for musician Ted Nugent was not at the Penobscot Judicial Center on Wednesday, but his lawyer was.
Bangor attorney Richard Hartley entered not guilty pleas on behalf of his client, Mick Brown, 55, of Cave Creek, Ariz., to charges of operating under the influence of intoxicants, driving to endanger, theft and assault.
Efforts to reach Hartley on Wednesday were unsuccessful.
Dubbed “Wild” Mick in the metal community, Brown is best known as co-founder of 1980s hitmakers Dokken, according to Billboard magazine’s website. He is also a member of Tooth & Nail with former Dokken guitarist George Lynch.
Brown, 55, was arrested by Bangor police on Sunday, July 8, after he allegedly stole a golf cart used by Waterfront Concerts staff and was drunkenly driving it around the Front Street area at about 9:45 p.m.
Brown remains free on $4,000 bail. His next court date has not been scheduled, according to the court clerk’s office.
Bangor police Officers Steve Jordan and Jim Dearing were working at the waterfront pavilion during the July 8 show featuring Styx, REO Speedwagon and Nugent when security alerted them to an incident behind the stage, according to a news release from police Sgt. Paul Edwards issued on July 9.
Several people had attempted to stop Brown, but he had sped away on the golf cart down the footpath near the Sea Dog restaurant, the sergeant said. Jordan later observed the cart with two women on board near the Railroad Street crossing and attempted to stop Brown, again without success.
After Brown had accelerated past officers, Edwards said, a security officer got close enough to stop him, but Brown gave the officer a shove. Two other security team members removed Brown from the cart and he was placed under arrest.
All four crimes to which Brown pleaded not guilty Wednesday are misdemeanors, according to the Penobscot County district attorney’s office. All but the driving to endanger charge are Class D crimes punishable by up to a year in prison and a $2,000 fine. The driving to endanger charge is a Class E crime punishable by up to six months in jail and a fine of up $1,000.

Give the guy a pass !!!!
He should not get special treatment, If anything make an example of him!
Or it makes us look like hicks. It was a golf cart. At a Ted Nugent concert. More money wasted on this farce.
I wonder what these people would say if it had been a GG Allin show? Probably something like “BURN HIM AT THE STAKE!”
LOL! GG Allins…a name I had repressed. And for good reason. :)
Yes, actually following the law is a farce. Hell why not just let everyone go, it was only a car?
But he will, he will get away with it, his lawyer is real smart and a great one.
A pass directly to jail, do not pass go, do not collect $200.
Bahahah
PAAAARTEEEEEE!
$4,000 bail seems fair. Wait, no.
He
did however admit to adding and abetting Ted Nugent’s weak riffs and derivative
lyrics.
Say what you will about Ted and his political crap, but he is undoubtedly still a GREAT, not good guitarist. I saw him twice this summer and he’s as good as just about ANYONE alive today.
No he isnt. Learn about music. I dont even like that radio garbage and even I know he isn’t all that great. You should have heard of Angus Young, right? Clearly a much better guitar player. I could list off people from Metal bands you have never heard of that are far better guitarists then ol’ Ted. Next you’ll be telling me that Marlyn Manson is the most evil person in music, right?
I’ve seen AC/DC several times and Angus is awesome. To say that Ted is not on par with him is simply wrong. When was the last time you saw Ted? You assume a lot about my musical acumen DD, something you should avoid.
I havnt seen Ted, as I said, I dont like that style of music. Im not assuming anything, really. You made a clear statement that ol’ Ted was one of the best guitarists in the world. He simply isnt. I dont need to know about your knowledge of music. Micheal Amott, the guitarist from Carcass is much better then Ted, in all respects. I dont like Power Metal, but the dude from Dream Theater is also a very good example. There are many, many guitarists alive today who have contributed more to music and are far more proficient and skilled then Nugent. Feel free to disagree, but I stand firm in my beliefs.
Who would you consider to be the best (most technical and skilled) percussionist alive today?
Music is of course subjective. If you like Ted Nugent then he’s to to you and that’s all that matters for you.
That being said ….
The art of rock guitar has come a long way since Ted Nugent’s heyday.Nowadays, you can go to almost any guitar store on any Saturday afternoon, and you’re guaranteed to find a teenager who can play rings around “ol’ Ted”.
Yeah the guy has some extreme political views, but he still kicks some serious butt on guitar. Saw him not long ago and he’s still a madman on guitar.
As for this drummer, they’ll fine him, he won’t care cause he can afford a chauffeur, and that’ll be the end of it.
Lock him up and make him listen to nothing but David Bowie for 48 hrs.
I can only picture how hilarious of a site this must have been. Cops could not catch this guy and he was only in a golf cart!!
So glad that we get really quality people like Nugent and this guy in Bangor….Really classes up the place.
I think it’s hilarious. Barney Fife throwing the book at him. People need to get their thumb out of their mouths. I’m sure if it was the drummer for Green Day or U2, the complexion to this situation would be a lot different.
It sounds like a rocker being a rocker…
Sounds like an old fart being a teenager…
Goodness, this is a waste of time & money.
Wow. Watch out guys, Nugents drummer is on the loose. Ripping it up in a golf cart. So hardcore. Better put him in the slammer.
Now, if you don’t mind, I am going back to my GG Allin and my Black Metal.
The only thing Bangor sees here is a little extra cake from the concert revenues. Any other city in the United States would have provided celebrities with a golf cart or other transportation.
Nevertheless, if one wasn’t provided for him, that doesn’t entitle him to steal somebody else’s and drive it recklessly and evade police trying to stop him. I hope he’s convicted and does at least a few weeks in jail and some community service. I’m pretty sure that if I stole someone else’s vehicle and acted like he did and ran away from the police, that’s what would happen to me.
Why does the BND refer to this guy first as Ted Nugent’s drummer, and secondly using his name? This guy has a name of his own which should have been used by the BND staffer and then later
stated he was Nugent’s drummer. I’m sure that was no accident on BND’s part.
Sorry Judge; I could not control myself; cat scratch fever….
Dude looks like a lady.
Whats actually really, really funny about that song is that Steven Tyler looks like a lady an always has.
a good waste of tax payers dollars. We all know the outocme. He will walk free. Just get this over with and spend the money else where. Donate what your going to waste to the shelters.
Why has everyone gotten so up tight about everything? This is so rediculous. Go and take the fun out of everything. He was in a golf cart for god sakes. Do you know how many people drive around and play 18 rounds of golf and drink beer the whole way through? The world needs to lighten up.
With all the rabid and unchecked drug and alcholol abuse around now and people wondering if their missing kids were the ones burnt up in that car… You expect people to think good things about Kabang and that somehow, that over the hill rocker stealing a golf cart is cute?
This ain’t no teen movie we are talking about here!
I hope he gets his hand slapped….but I also hope that this marks the end of the K-Bang concerts!
I know, the vast majority of the kids who went to that show, were probably on the right side of the law…but those who weren’t, spoil it for all the rest….
Add in the second childhood antics of this clown, and theres plenty of negative setiment!
People, young and old, have got to grow up!
I’ll tell you that!
You’re right j. It really sux living in this time. Everywhere you turn people telling you what you can and can’t do. You turn on the radio and some government dept is warning you about floods, wildfires, what to eat, what to drink, too much soda, blah, blah, blah. It never ends. It was the last show of the tour and Mick, who is well known in his own right, blows off a little steam and they treat him like he’s Charlie Manson. Nobody got hurt, it was a freakin’ golf cart… Write him up for disorderly conduct and fine him $500.00 and get it over with. It makes Bangor look like hicksville. Gawd…
Thank you Steve. I can’t believe with all the drugs, bath salts, shootings, stabbings, thefts downtown, and every other thing going on in town the cops are worried about Ted Nugents drummer in a golf cart. Our law inforcement are just trafic cops and nothing more. It is really a shame to what are society has become. The cop that arrested this guy for oui should be ashamed of himself
Can you say Hasbeen? Noooo….He is a Never was and a Never will be ! A Smug D’Bag .
Free the Bangor One!! No justice no peace!!
Geeze, just give him a fine to pay and get it done with…. that said, Mick Brown, if you do have to come back to Maine to deal with this, look me up….. I’ll find a golf cart for you to drive & a place to drive it, as long as I can be along for the ride!
