ADDISON – Francesa “Peggy” Marengo of Worcester, Mass., and Addison, passed away peacefully Aug. 12, 2012, surrounded by her loving family at home. Peggy was born April 27, 1943, in Worcester, Mass.
She spent her life giving to many causes. She founded Books Behind Bars, she was active in the creation of Abby’s House – a shelter for women in Worcester, Mass., she was a founding member of AIDS Project Worcester and she created Marith House – a home school. Peggy was an artist, gardener, pottery maker, piano teacher and most proudly a mother to many.
Peggy was predeceased by her parents, Francesa and Raymond Gordon of Worcester, Mass.; and her beloved daughters, Lottanya and Ida Janel. She is survived by her partner of 35 years, Alison Smith; and their 13 beautiful children, Tammy and her partner, Denise, Pamela Esposito, Chirstopher Marengo and his wife, Pamela, Joseph Marengo and his wife, Tammi, Stephanie Duca and her husband, Jimmy, all of Worcester, Mass., Stephan Marengo and his wife, Cindy, of Milbridge, Luci, Bea, Molly, Wayne, Kessie, Gabriel and Kenyatta Smith-Marengo of Worcester, Mass., and Addison; her sister, Sandra Hunting and her husband, Gerry, of New Hampshire; 11 very special grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held for Peggy and her daughter, Lottanya, 11:30 a.m. Aug. 20, at Church Hill Cemetery, Addison. A memorial Mass will be held 10 a.m. Aug. 27, at Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main St., Worcester, Mass. Donations may be made in Peg’s memory to Siddhartha School Project, P.O.
