Time to ban knives,it’s getting out of control.
What is it with family disputes in Maine? I just got through reading another story about a stepfather shooting in his stepson’s direction because the younger man wanted a cigarette. Can no one resolve their differences with family members without resorting to weaponry?
They are family members, those mofos need some lead headed their way
The violence is incredible. Every day something reported in the paper.
There is no increase in violence, just an increase in the BDN reporting it. I guess they have found out reporting violence boost hits on their web site.
Another story today involving stepson/stepfather disputes. Historically, they don’t get along. Just ask my brother.
domestic violence is on the rise & I wish the court system would treat it more sternly than just a slap on the wrist- it involves both sexex too & gender should make no difference in how it is dealt with
Maybe it would have to do with the fact that most Mainer’s are constantly struggling with money, or depression or some form of substance abuse.
There are no happy homes when one member can’t find work or bills can’t get paid. Throw in a bit of chemical dependency and you get a recipe for domestic abuse.
When I read the headline I wasn’t that concerned about a family bathing together-However- taking a good knife and getting it wet will ruin the finish every time.
You ever wonder if these family disputes are happening more often because the economy is so bad that so many family members are living under one roof now? Grown children living with their parents or vice versa…Sad, but there seems to be a connection.
You’re probably right in many of these cases. However- during the Great Depression of the 1930s families banded together just to survive day by day. They needed each other far more as government had a much more limited role. The safety net had huge holes in it. Some of these people we read about every day would be in trouble if they won the mega-bucks drawing. Many people today just lack basic character. They are now 3 generations removed from family members who knew what really hard times were all about. Being idle and without purpose produces few desirable scenarios.
ayeah.
A knife in a bath? At least it wasn’t a hair-dryer or a radio.
