RUMFORD, Maine — A local man was charged with aggravated assault after police say he cut a woman’s face with a knife.
Richard B. Stickney III, 29, of 221 Pine St. was arrested Thursday morning on charges of aggravated assault, obstructing government administration and violating bail condition.
According to an arrest report by Holli Pullen of the Mexico Police Department, witnesses saw Stickney become angry with a woman and try to attack her. After two people tried to stop him, Stickney attacked her with a knife, cutting her chin.
According to the report, the woman was bleeding heavily. When others in the room tried to call the police, Stickney took their cellphones to stop them.
Stickney is being held on $1,300 cash bail.

Just to bad that someone in the room didn’t have a concealed weapons permit and was carrying.

$1,300 bail? it could have easily been her throat instead of her chin. it shouldn’t be that easy for him to be back on the street.

I agree. People arrested on crimes of marajauna or even auto theft get 20,000 yet this scumbag only faces 1300.00 ?? Wonder what kind of sentence he will get after they just let the guy strangling his wife out after six months? sounds like about a week with all but an hour suspended to me based on our system.

Score again for Maine courts. Until you treat crime seriously and truly hold criminals accountable, things will continue to escalate as they have for the last 20 years I’ve seen it. You are a mockery of justice.

The court systems need to bail up more then $1300.00 its to easy to get bail.
