AUGUSTA, Maine — A South China man is facing two terrorizing charges after threatening to shoot his wife and a District Court judge, according to police.
Shawn Breton, 37, became agitated after Judge Beth Dobson denied Breton’s fourth request for a protection order against his wife during a Wednesday appearance in Augusta District Court, Capt. Dan Davies of the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
After the hearing, Breton told another county employee he “was going to come back and shoot Judge Dobson and then go shoot my wife,” the release stated.
Breton left the building before anyone was notified, and authorities began searching for him.
Twenty minutes later, Breton was returned to the courthouse and arrested without incident, according to the release. He had no weapons on him.
Breton attempted to justify his threats by telling police he didn’t mean them, and that he was angry about being denied the protection order and not being able to see his child, police said.
Breton was taken to the Kennebec County Jail, where bail was set at $10,000.

Well, there’s not any doubt that the judge made the right decision here! What a genius.
Yeah, but why does it take threatening a judge? Usually threatening the wife doesn’t get you arrested.
true.
well sometimes the legal system has a way of doing things to get one upset . they way for instance the way and confusion in the clerks office their tone of voice can agitate people into attack mode. one of the clerks must have said something to set him off some clerks act dumb ans shoouldnt be working there others get nasty i bet that is what set him off and he said that . some clerks just dont have a good bedside manner
If nothing else, he should learn to express himself in a less violent manner. Some people don’t realize it, but making a threat against someone else is against the law. And it is particularly dumb to make a threat toward a judge as well as his wife.
Sounds like Mr. Breton needs some Anger Management classes.
Maybe he his housed with Mr. Morin from the Waterville incident.
Slow learner………
oh well no matter how angry and frustrated one gets sometimes it is best to hold the tongue . sometimes it is best to keep quiet . you sometimes can get more in your your favor depending the situation.
Wonder why the judge, after 4 tries, hasn’t just given him the dang restraining order. He’s frustrated for a reason, but no, he should not have said what he said.
sometimes the clerks in the office has a nasty way or should i say atitude issues. i know the court he went to.that can set anyone off. i am not condoning what he said but what they say can be darn right nasty they even hang up on you especially when you are trying to get a point across they wont listen
The guy wanted to see his kid, He got mad and said some stupid stuff. No, he should not have said it. It is difficult for a male to prevail in the case of child custody. The worldview is that the child’s needs are always best served by the Mother. I am not stating this about this particular situation, I am speaking in general terms. There is a great deal missing from this story we are not privy to.
Mr. Breton, next time you have a thought, keep it to yourself.
Funny, he doesn’t look Chinese.
*rim shot*
So Brent wanted a protection order against his wife. Judge said no. If Brents wife wanted a protection order on him it would have been granted on the spot… So they pushed this man with unfair treatment to the edge. and in a emotional state made a comment.. Sexism is illegal I thought.
