There’s a heavy price to be paid if you’re a Ron Paul support in Mitt Romney’s city.
For one thing, you get a seat on the fringes of the convention arena.
How far from the podium are Paul-dominated delegations sitting?
Let’s put it this way. Delegates from U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, American Samoa and the Northern Marianas Islands get better seats than Ron Paul’s supporters.
The Marianas entourage managed to wangle some really good seats — next to the Michigan delegation (Mitt Romney’s native state).
According to a convention seating chart obtained by POLITICO, “the delegations from Nevada, Louisiana, Maine, Minnesota and Oklahoma all located on the outer fringe of the convention floor. Each are states with significant Paul followings.”
Nevada is considered one of nine swing states that will decide the presidential election.
Paul loyalists complain that they have been treated unfairly by Romney-controlled convention officials.
“I think it may be time we audit the RNC [Republican National Committee],” Paul supporter Justin Amash, a congressman from Michigan said Sunday, taking a cue from Paul’s “audit the Fed” legislative proposal.
Ashley Ryan, a Maine delegate, urged her fellow Paul supporters to “keep fighting.”
“We have come so far in this fight for liberty,” she said.

They should get worse seats, they are not Republicans by a long shot.
Thats the problem with the Republican Party! They will take anyone for a vote and throw them away when they are not usefull anymore.
This is what Romney meant by an Etch a Sketch Moment, use them for all that they are worth and then ( Wipe Them Out) !
It is the same way that he ran Bain Capital, picking winners and losers but always to his advantage.
Take a loan on the assets , take cash for himself, put the Cash in Swiss bank accounts and dump the Business through Bankruptcy!
Hang On America!
Republicans. Dedicated to the principle that vaginas need reform but Wall Street doesn’t.
Isn’t the RINO charge getting a little old? If the Republicans threw out everyone they accused of being a RINO they’d be the minority party.
Romney is not a Republican. Just look at his past history. The Ron Paul Republicans are far more Republican than any Republican that backs Romney because they are told to.
Republicans say they are for small government. Ron Paul has a proven record showing this, Romney does not.
Republicans say they are for lower taxes, Ron Paul has a proven record showing this, Romney does not.
Republicans say they stand behind the constitution, Ron Paul has a record proving this, Romney does not.
Ron Paul has decades of a proven Republican voting record while Romney has said for the last few months he is a conservative, but has a decades long record of voting liberal and flip flopping when it benefits him.
Thats not “ALL” true!
Romney sent all his Cash overseas to “Avoid” Taxes!
Why, oh why do they not pack their stuff and leave? If it is true as as one Republican comment in these columns notes, “they are not Republicans by a long shot” they might be better served by getting out. They certainly won’t be any worse off politically. Have they really “come so far in this fight for liberty,” as delegate Ashley Ryan says? It seems that she has gone from Maine to Tampa, and that’s about it. There are other avenues Paulistas can take if they truly want to get their point across.
And thus creates a stronger beginning for a growing third party….and they have only themselves to blame…
Good gracious people! You are at the convention with an assigned seat…..Grow Up!…..Crazy…..
Anybody seen the Ron Paul speech from the week end in Fl.?
The Republicans are afraid of him. Mitt Romney is not a popular candidate. Ron Paul is.
Ron Paul wants the Federal Reserve audited. And the US to bring our troops home.
Mitt Romney is g bush with better hair. No comparison./
Popular? Stats please.
Romney the Tinman with no heart, in retrospect, I now understand what Bush meant by
” I am a Compasionate Conservative )!
Photo caption starts, “Crowds cheered…”
Why is is that none of those people look particularly enthusiastic?
Who would have thought that being on the party’s fringe would get you a seat on the convention floor’s fringe? That being said, this is not your father’s Republican Party. It bears no resemblance to the Republican party prior to Nixon. They are tying to convince people that Obama has had enough time to right the ship after the shipwreck that preceded him, all the while paddling in the opposite direction that this country wants to go in. The Republicans have been an obstructionist entity in Congress with one purpose in mind – to hobble any and all of Obama’s iniatives, particularly those addressing the economy. Both parties have their lunatic fringe element, but the Republican fringe element is very scary. One needs only to look at the few states that have elected governors from this lunatic fringe to see how catastrophic putting them in the White House could be.
outstanding post. waiting for the libber comments. i agree with the republican ideals i disagree with what the republican party is today.they demand x the dems say ok heres x and then they are like look at these dems pushing x onto us… wait what
Hey, they got what they deserved. Did they expect a heroes welcome after Shanghying the Maine caucus?
They did not shanghai the Maine convention. They were elected at the caucuses to be at the convention. Stop believing everything you read or hear and educate yourselves. Most Maine Republicans wanted Ron Paul.
No we wanted
Ru Paul .
Interesting picture.
Quite a homogenous group ……….
It’s like “Where’s Waldo” with minorities and any Republican gathering photo.
Somebody has to take the nosebleed seats…
Maybe they are just trying to distance the promised hecklers to where they can’t shout down the speeches?
We no longer can choose our president. This is supposed to be the time to select our candidate, not coronate. Placement of the states should have nothing to do with who they support. One candidate should not have say over another. The GOP has been illegally funding Romney’s stealing of the nomination before the actual nomination has taken place. It is entirely sad that people accept this as a normal nomination process. Every Republican, whether you like Romney or not, should be up in arms about how they have stolen our ability to choose our leader.
Awesome color effect in that photo!
Then again I can get the same effect looking at the computer screen thru one of those Bud Light Platinum Blue 12 ounce bottles!
Yeeeehhhhaaa!
Cute little Ron Paul supporters. The guy that wants to legalize everything and kill the military…strange, from a guy that was in the military. Come on guys. Do you really think Ted Cruz and Nikki Haley are Rino’s? What about Arturo? (Oh, wait, he’s a Dem). Why should he get a speaking role? He’s not supporting the overwhelming nominee, and might bad mouth him. Romney isn’t perfect. No candidate is, but he is the nominee like it or not. I’m so glad Dr. Paul is done after this year.
