WASHBURN – Atwood Sperrey was transported to his heavenly home Sunday, Aug. 26, 2012, at a Presque Isle hospital. Atwood was born Aug. 30, 1920, in Perham, to Guilford and Inez (Dodge) Sperrey.
Atwood is survived by his wife of 73 years, Dorothy (Valley) Sperrey of Washburn; four sons, Ronald and wife, Norma, of Washburn, Llewellyn and wife, Mary, of Sutton, W.Va., Paul and wife, Sandra, of Cowpen, S.C., and Loren and wife, Brenda, of Hermon; and two daughters, Anita Cheviot and husband, Earl, of Woodland, and Connie Goden and husband, Robert, of Caribou; 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; sister, Glenna Sperrey of Washburn; and two brothers, Daryl of Washburn and Dalton of Tavares, Fla. He was predeceased by his parents, Inez and Guilford Sperrey; three brothers, Gardiner, Everett and Millard; and one infant grandson.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, at Washburn Pentecostal Church with Pastors Bruce Blakney, David McIntyre and Dave Goupille officiating. Calling hours will be noon-2 p.m. Thursday at the church. Interment will be at Riverside Extension Cemetery, Washburn. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a memorial in honor of Atwood at 843 Washburn Road, Washburn, ME 04786.
