TAMPA, Fla. — Most of Maine’s delegates walked out of the Republican National Convention on Tuesday afternoon and said they will boycott the rest of the event after failing to overturn a ruling that removed half the state’s delegates pledged to support Ron Paul.

The group tried to appeal an RNC committee recommendation to split the state’s 20 delegates evenly between backers of Paul and those favoring Mitt Romney. Ten Paul delegates ultimately were removed and replaced by 10 for Romney.

Maine’s delegates wanted the full slate of Paul supporters reinstated.

Delegate Bryan Daugherty was among those who walked out of the Tampa Bay Times Forum along with the bulk of the delegation.

“It’s pretty much all of them. It’s very unfortunate. We’re all very distraught that this happened,” said Daugherty, a state committeeman for Penobscot County.

Mark Willis, replaced by the RNC with a delegate supporting Romney, didn’t have an exact count of how many of the state’s representatives left after the failed appeal, but the walkout included at least 90 percent of the delegates and alternates who backed Texas Rep. Ron Paul’s bid for the nomination, he said.

Maine’s appeal never was heard by the other delegates attending the first full day of convention activities, who would have voted on the question if it had been brought to the floor.

“We couldn’t get it to be heard. We tried to do a point of order, but our chairman wasn’t even recognized,” said Willis, a newly elected state Republican committeeman.

When Maine’s turn came during the roll call vote of delegates from each state, 14 were announced for Romney and 10 for Paul.

Before the roll call vote, Paul showed up on the convention floor, signing autographs and posing for photos.

As he left the arena, he declined to say if he felt his delegates were being treated unfairly.

“I’ll let you know when it’s over,” Paul said.

The flap created hard feelings in Maine and Republican Gov. Paul LePage chose to skip the convention.

Stavros Mendros, who had supported Paul, said many Paul supporters had made travel plans before the challenge, which he described as “vindictive and bogus.”

“I just hope that in the next 3½ months that we can put the Maine Republican Party back together,” said Mendros, who’s now supporting Romney, the GOP nominee.

Charlie Webster, chairman of the Maine Republican Party, said any dispute over Maine’s delegates really was resolved long ago.

“It’s pretty much over,” he said before the appeal effort failed.

He also said a walkout wouldn’t accomplish much except deprive Maine of a voice during the convention.

“I don’t think it would do anything. It would be unfortunate because Maine should have representation,” Webster said.

Webster’s position with the state party entitled him to a delegate seat. He said he intended to vote for Romney.

The state’s delegates also extended their feud with the Republican National Committee by printing and handing out a pamphlet warning that if the national party splits and throws out Maine’s delegation, it could happen to any state.

“What if the RNC threw out the duly elected delegates of your state’s election?” the flier says. “What if your state’s delegates were replaced by appointees of a nine-person panel composed of RNC insiders from other states?

“It happened to Maine. It will happen to you next,” it says.

Disgruntled Maine delegates distributed the flier around their hotel and handed it out Tuesday at the convention site.

An RNC committee reported there were a number of problems during Maine’s GOP convention in May, which produced a large contingent of Paul supporters. Because the committee said the convention was flawed, half of the 20 Paul delegates were rejected and replaced.

It was a deal imposed by the party that Maine’s delegation never accepted, Willis said.

“We’re not going to accept this deal the RNC thrust on us,” Willis said. “It should be all of us or none of us.”

The delegation had planned to appeal the committee report on Monday, but the threat of Tropical Storm Isaac forced organizers to simply open the convention Monday and immediately adjourn.

Rejection of the Paul delegates won’t thwart efforts of his supporters or silence them, Willis said.

“We are 10 times stronger than we were an hour ago,” he said.

  1. This is the national  GOP cutting off its nose to spite its face in Maine. They want the Dem’s to win the elections this year, so they can blame the Ron Paul Wing of the party.

      1. You didn’t win that delegate election .. someone else did.  Payback  is a *itch .. Real republicans will be voting for Gary Johnson the Real republican candidate.

          1. Romneys campaign team’s dumb decision to “Eat the seed corn” will have reprecussions for decades.  Most activist youth will be looking elsewhere for their political affiliations.

      2. Yea as selective as Gore wanting only to count a few Democrat rich counties and not counting the military votes

      3. State rules concerning federal elections may not be changed to change the outcome of a vote. This is what happened in Florida when Al Gore supporters tried to change the rules of the vote counting  process to suit them. On the other hand political parties are free to change their own party rules and policies any time the want. That, to my understanding, this the way it has always been.

    1. So with all the GOTea Party national experts on voter fraud in one place, I just want to see you people decide which group of ten, the Paul Ten or the Romney Ten, are better example of voter fraud,  as it really works in the State of Maine.

What  say you Mr. Charley ?

    2. I have a lot more respect for those fools that went down there and got the boot, that I have for that empty suit in the White House

  2. If the Ron Paul folks were really worried about our country they would quit their belly aching and “man up” so that we can make things happen this fall.  Come on folks!

      1. Agreed. as long as we keep on fighting amongst ourselves though, all will stay the same in Washington. We fight.they all maintain their power.

      1. Nope, just don’t go along with ron paul backers, then you won’t be told where to row your boat.

  3. The Republican national leadership merely implemented it core philosophy: voting should be limited to those who agree with you.

  4. This is not the Republican Party I joined back in 1967. Back then people spoke of Republican principles. Now they change the rules in the middle of the game so that it is more like a coronation then a convention. Every time I hear a big name Republican talk about how the party is like a big tent I almost want to heave my dinner. Well maybe what goes on in Tampa the next few days will make us think it is being held in a big tent. We all know what takes place in a tent now don’t we? It has loud music, a lot of clowns and people in funny looking outfits. Tumblers are usually big during things that go on in big tents. I understand that the star of this show is  a guy who used to be the Governor of Mass. I wonder if he is going to be performing his favorite routine, flip flopping all over the stage.

    1. Switch to the Democrats!

The Radical Right has dragged them to about where the Republicans of 40 years ago  where!

You can call yourself a “Born again Democrat” !

      1. And voting for Obama is an option. NOT!! We would really be going backwards, as in the last 4 years.

        1. LOL,

That  Reminds me of of the childhood game where you take steps forwards or backwards as determined by the blind folded leader!

We took 8 Giant steps backward with Bush and fell over the ravine into a swamp, it’s a gonna take more than 4  steps forward with the  deliberate Baby Step restraints imposed by the Repub House to keep us down !

          1. The game was Captain May I and was very much in control of the Captain, full of bias, vindictiveness, etc.  That kind of would be Captain reminds me of most if not all of the R candidates.

          2. Thanks for the name, it’s been years since I played that game!

It’s true the Captain always knew who would win, definately a Republican game !

          3. LOL.  The morons are showing their colors.  Is it too much for you to vote and apply proper protocol rather than act like imbeciles at a convention and show the rest of the country what could be perceived as typical Mainers?  Can those imbeciles get back to Maine without help from a map?  Lets hope they cannot.

          4. Proper Protocol?  Such as this?-

CNN reports that two people were removed from the Republican National Convention yesterday after they threw nuts at an African-American CNN camera operator and said, “This is how we feed animals.”

          5. Kind of reminds me of history, the thought the earth was flat before Columbus. Another 4 years of Obama and we will fall off the edge of the earth!

          6. Your gang is ignorant of both history and science with the Todd Akins destroying this country.Anybody who would believe in creationism, let alone cram it down students’ throats, needs to be taken away from  decent people immediately.Ellen Barkin was right.

          7. I guess anyone believes they are decended from chimps, should go back and live with them then. I will re-check my history I guess I seem to remember some thought they may sail off the end of the earth. Science is always changing.

          8.  “sale” is for stores,”sail”is for water.Imagine how smart you’d be if you read real books and went to public school.

          9. My appologies if I am not as perfect as you. Either way you for my drift. You can use that word in both it connotations.

        2. So REAL “christian” conservatives can vote for Romney, why again,  besides he is not Obama, and so not black  ?

Well, if Romney is going not backwards to Bush, what is backwards to you ?

CAN ANYONE ELSE REMEMBER GW BUSH .. he’s  that forgotten GOP POTUS that has been given the photoshop treatment just like a bad Soviet , and totally removed from all May Day photos, it seems, hasn’t he ?

          1. Typical response, go back a few hundred years why don’t you, it will be just as valid, blaming others, not trying to be a part of the solution, be part of the problem like Osham-a.

        1. The guy Bends over Backwards to compromise and he just gets sucker punches every time!

The Republicans are furious that he wont let them Take America Hostage because of the Great Recession that they created with poor policies designed only to spread wealth to the top!

Never underestimate the resolve of the GOP to create and then use a crissis to their advantage!

          They are despicable!

          1. I see you believe everything Obama says.  Yep, he tries to bring people together.  HIS OWN PARTY doesn’t support his budgets.  He is the worst president ever.  Anybody who does not see that is either crazy or loves to get stuff that others pay for.

          2. Bending over backwards to communism and socialism is all “the guy” is doing.  Despicable?  You are despicable!  What a bunch of dunces you hang with.  I will be the first in line to haunt you when things go your way, the wrong way.  You will be reminded of your socialistic and communist leanings.

          3. Save us the class-warfare rhetoric.  While this talking point gets a little sympathy from some, I’m not buying it.  The “bending over backwards” and “compromise” line is “laughable.

    2. However [political parties] may now and then answer popular
ends, they are likely in the course of time and things, to become potent
engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to
subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of
government, destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to
      unjust dominion.

GEORGE WASHINGTON, Farewell Address, Sep. 17, 1796

        1. Actually, if you eliminate all the democrats (socialist and communists of today) you may be able to come up with some dunce that can claim the title of worst president, which is way more important than speaking of George Washington.  Get in your kayak and paddle east, way east, and enjoy their brand of politics, you will fit right in.

    3. I saw Santorum on t.v. last night and he sounded like a sleazy southern preacher at a tent revival meeting.

  5. These Ron Paul crazies need to relax. This is the RNC which is going to nominate Mitt Rommeny. I understand that they took control of the Maine convention with some sneaky plot,  and got the votes for Paul, but Ron Paul is not who the Rebublican in Maine want to have the nomination, so get on BOARD and stop crying. Furthermore these delegates not being heard at the RNC is not some big plot to silence the Maine vote, its only silincing 20 delegates who are not even voting the way that Maine wants them to.  All they are doing is hurting the Rebublican Party.. Ron Paul is not worth the vote, time, or problems that these crazies are asking for.. Heal the Party, Heal the Nation!!

    1. I appreciate your loyalty, but rules are rules, no one is above the law or below it, thats the way it’s suppose to be anyway.

      1.

Sometimes people push the rules like you like you leaving up
your election signs all year round.

No against the law on private property but we see enough political
        signs during the election season!

        Lost my vote !

    2. You have no idea what you are talking about. There was no sneaky plot, unless you mean they went to the caucus and got elected to go to the convention is sneaky. Ron Paul is the only sane Republican we have now adays. The cheating was all done on Romney’s behalf. First they try to hide who is being voted on, then they were caught changing votes and then they didn’t ninclude the northern half of the state when they incorrectly announced Romney as the state winner. The convention went exactly as the state voted. You cannot just go to the convention, you cannot ‘take control’ of a convention.

      1. I respectfully disagree.  There are no sane Republicans.  The last one left office in 1960.  What you have now is Oligarchs versus Radical Libertarians versus Christian Taliban.   I don’t care for the Radical Libertarians, but I care for the others less.

Meanwhile, the Democrats are promising a return to 1998, which will never happen.  They promise a beautiful world that no one can deliver.  But Romney promises to destroy us all.

The best thing the Ron Paul people can do right now is disrupt the convention with a riot on the floor. You cannot ‘take control’ of a convention, but you can remove control from those who have seized it illegally. That would be Patriotism.

        1. Who seized it illegally?  Maine is one State.  He didn’t win anywhere else in the US.  Get over it, Romney is the candidate and I hope he wins cause if we have 4 more years of this fool then we are in deeper crap than ever before!

          1. If you really had any
            commonsense38

You would Know that getting out of the mud is always much harder than getting into it!

A ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure,

A stitch in time saves nine,

A penny saved is a penny earned,

Jack and Jill went UP the hill and came tumbling down,

Humpty Dumpty had a great fall and all the Kings Horses and all the Kings Men couldn’t put Humpty back together again!

So, we don’t need another George W Bush, Drive us off the cliff episode!

        2. “But Romney promises to destroy us all.”
          ________________________________

I think you mean to say “Obama” there.  HE is the one who IS destroying America….worst president ever.

          1. In 2010 the Tea Party and Republicans took over Congress.  Senator Mitch McConnell announced that the top priority of Republicans
was to make sure Obama was a one term President!

In 2012 they want us to believe Obama is to blame.

Republicans killed or blocked the following:
Tax on companies that ship jobs overseas: Blocked
Political Ad Disclosure Bill: Blocked twice
The Small Business Jobs Act: Blocked twice
            The Dream Act: Blocked
Repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”: Multiple Blocks
            Anti-Rape Amendment: Blocked
            Benefits for Homeless Veterans: Blocked
Affordable Health Care For America:  Voted 33 times to repleal
Health care For 9/11 First Responders: Blocked
            The Jobs Bill: Blocked
            Wall Street Reform: Blocked
American Recovery & Reinvestment Act; Attempted, Blocked
            Oil Spill Liability: Blocked
            Immigration Reform: Blocked
Unemployment Extention Bill HR 4213: Blocked
Fair Pay Act Of 2009: Blocked & Defeated

What has the Republican Party done for you?  See Above!

      2. Oh yes he knows exactly what he is talking about.  The sneaky plot is the ron paul delegates plan to disrupt.  Sane in the same sentence as ron paul?  No way, that is an oxymoron, paul is an alzheimers patient as best.  Your use of the name mAineAc is quite revolting, it is obvious you are from another country, like your so-called president, probably not even a citizen either.

    3. So electing a majority of delegates to the state convention is now called a “sneaky plot”?

      Who knew?

        1. By electing them, while following all of the rules in place.
          .

That’s not called a plot. That is called democracy.

  6. they are relecting Lepages behaviour and you know what that behaviour is not being tolerated which is good news

  7. These crazies appear to be nothing more than showered & cleaned OWSers. Radicals, nothing more.
These radicals need to realize this election is far more important than their obstinance: Tyranny (obama) or personal freedom (Romney). It’s that simple.

        1. Obama a Socialist?

A Socialist would have given us a Universal health care system, he gave us the Republican Plan by the Heritage Foundation where you are forced to pay a private  insurance company!

Obama is about as much a Socialist as Ronald Reagan!

          1. Wrong again, man you sure do not know what you are talking about do you?  Go back to your communist upbringing and let us freedom lovers do the job.

          2. “Ronald Reagan is the Republican Party’s greatest hero, lauded by those who assert that the party must never waiver from the ideals of smaller government, lower taxes and conservative social values. Yet Reagan presided over a federal government that grew by more than 300,000 employees during his eight-year tenure; while lowering the individual tax rate, he raised taxes about a dozen times; and he worked closely with Democratic congressional leaders.”

        2. Ha hah hahahahahaha. I love when people keep saying that. It qualifies them as completely clueless.

          1. Ha hah hahahaha.  I love it when morons laugh like that.  It qualifies them as ron paul backers………..you know………..real clueless.

    1. Romney the personal freedom candidate?…That is a COMPLETE LINE of BS!

You are freaking blind as a bat if you don’t see that our “personal freedoms” have gone the way of the dodo bird after 9/11 sponsored wholly by our friends the republicans with contributions from the Democrats as well.

Gary Johnson is the only candidate for small government and PERSONAL FREEDOM

  8. I sit here just a wonderin’, what in —- are those Maine delegates making fools of themselves over this ridiculous Ron Paul, I do not like Romney either, but get real.

    1. Lets take your right to vote away, so that I can vote in your name OK? You don’t mind right.. Paul won in Maine, Period.

  9. The Ron Paul supporters followed the rules….thanks to Webster, Staples and Cianchette they got thrown out because of a report filled with lies.

      1. Speaking of lies, how many promises of the “hope and change” campaign came true?  All we have now is a divided, polarized nation.  Hardly the nation that Obama promised.  All of us really wanted him to succeed.  He hasn’t.  For people who blindly follow him despite the miserable state of our economy, the continued call to class-warfare, and the vitriolic tone to his re-election bid, shows a total lack of understanding of what a failed President he has been.  Certainly the worst since Jimmy Carter.

        1. Only problem is, the only other choice we have is this Mitt character. I feel just as disappointed in Obama as many but we really don’t have a good candidate to vote for this election year. Reminds me of Bush vs. Kerry. Both choices sucked then and now.

          1. I see your point to a certain extent.  Especially the Bush-Kerry comparison.  I may be in the minority, especially on these threads, but Mitt is okay for me because deep down he is a moderate like I am.  I think he’ll be better at providing smaller government and better for business than Pres. Obama has been.  I also think he’ll be able to take better advantage of our OWN energy resources thus lowering costs for us all.  I’m not rich enough, nor poor enough to benefit from the extremes of either party so I like moderate thinking politicians.  With smaller Gov. and less regulatory obstacles that pin down business.

          2. I can’t vote for a republican after they have made pledges not to vote for anything that might make Obama look good, regardless if it would help this country and the middle-class. To me, this is extremist I feel like our whole country was taken hostage by republicans, especially during the time when we had to borrow more money or default on our debts. That fiasco earned this country a credit downgrade and made us look like fools to the world. After the Bush Years, and this latest BS, I now see that republicans are all about party and not about helping this country recover. I feel like republicans are mostly responsible for getting this country in the mess we’re in. I’m not saying democrats aren’t also to blame because they most certainly are.

I think it is time we get out of this two party system and get common sense back into our politics, if that can even be done. Something tells me it is too late for that though. I hope I’m wrong.

      1. A couple of notes from the convention…..

“On the Convention floor, at some point Saturday afternoon vote counting
         stopped in favor of a show of hands;
this may have been because of
challenges that a quorum may not have
been present. It was clear that many
Romney Delegates began to leave the
        Convention Saturday afternoon. There
were also other issues related to Rules
        of Order.

One must not miss the point that the Battle of Maine between Paul and Romney
was fought using parliamentary procedures; this was not an out-of-control
Mob throwing bottles or shooting bullets. It’s better to be bored than
bombed. We’re a Republic, not a Banana Republic.”

  10. Why is it that SO many people in Maine have lost their bleeping minds.  This just makes Mainers look like a bunch of idiotic lunatics.

      1. Yeah, I have started to separate the sane from the insane (socio/psychopaths) when I mention Republicans. There are many sane ones out there. I mean when the Party goes after one of their own because she won’t tow the line something is very wrong. Governor of Utah just refused to tow the Party line. Wonder what will happen to him?

          1. Yes, in fact he was quite fond of Democrats if you know your history as well as you think you do, that is why he founded a party here in the U.S., and the Republicans finally kicked them out, only to find the neo’s of that party here now, skinheads etc., you know, real democrats.

          2. This wins today’s “most inaccurate and inane post of the day award!”  Your other posts made it a close match, but here is the winner!!!  Congrats!

        1. Exactly what the ron paul backers and ron paul himself has done, go after one of their own,  so you are right on with that statement, but then what can you expect from a socialist.

      2. Tyke baby, the moronic and the imbeciles are your buddys obviously, so go back under your rock.

  11. Anyone who thinks what happened in Maine is OK, Needs to turn your right to vote over to me and I’ll vote in your place. Don’t worry I’ll only vote in your name for people I deem fit…

    1. I agree… it’s so strange how people are so willing to give up their rights simply because they don’t think this kind of thing could happen to them.  Setting a precedent is not to be taken lightly as it carries a great deal of weight in the future about who can or cannot vote…

    2.  That would be the LePage/MHPC voter suppression rules in action. How does that shoe on the other foot feel?

  12. Does anyone have a list of the scab delegates posted anywhere? I thought I recognized a few but Charlie Webster was the only face I caught.

    1. Delegates and delegates as announced by the RNC:

      William Schneider
      Dale Crafts
      David Every
      Bobby Reynold
      Peter Cianchette
      Garrett Mason
      John Atkinson
      Charlie Summers
      Jan Love
      Josh Tardy
      Hayes Gahagan
      Linda Gahagan
      Ann Robinson
      Dorris Russell
      Elaine Bridge
      Mark Ellis
      Tony Oberley
      Avery Day
      Jim Donnelly
      Tim Woodcock

      1. So, enjoy the ride over the cliff, Neo-cons (all)! It will take a few minutes longer to get there with Romney than with Obama – if Mitt wins, which I now doubt because the Maine GOP shot itself in the foot. I am gone from it ASAP!

        1. Those of you who don’t read the print BDN missed a great cartoon in the Sat. paper.  “That whole thing about lemmings is just a myth.  Political parties, on the other hand …” (as several people in bad suits with flags in their hats are meekly walking off a cliff).

          1. Pied pipers, lemmings both are probably just metaphorical examples, but people do understand the “drift” of those examples. Who are those that have herded the “sheeple” down the steep road towards the proverbial, metaphorical, whatever you call it “cliff”?? Both current “major parties” are to blame, for they follow orders from the “shadow government” with the money. That is not a conspiracy theory, but factually correct, if you do the research! The Americans must get radical to get the “brakes applied” on this vehicle that’s headed for that cliff, and very soon.

      2. Isn’t voter fraud a federal offense? Aren’t some of these people lawyers and public officials charged with the public trust?

  13. I will still vote Republican but no way will i continue to support financially the GOP if  this is the way i am going to be represented at the convention. I am ashamed of the delegates from Maine.

  14. what a great way to represent your political opinion………fight about it.   The reason why the republicans are they way that they are is because they demand that party members act and do what they say………………that’s why you have democrats.

        1. You deflect the argument. Nice try. It is simply about being able to represent the people who sent them. They were denied that right.

  15. Ron Paul is about as far out there as you can get.  He is not in the mainstream of politics & that should not be a surprise to anyone.  People think LePage is off the wall?  Take a look at Ron Paul.

    1. Ron Paul is the same type of radical as the Founders who dared challenge the strongest nation at the time – and won! It will take radicalism to fix this mess that both parties have placed this country in. I am leaving the GOP tomorrow.

      1. Don’t,  they need you. When rebuilding you first have to strip everything out.. just by your disappointment I can tell the NEW REPUBLICAN PARTY is just starting and needs good people like you.

        1. I joined the GOP for 2 reasons, supporting LePage for Governor, and Ron Paul for President in the primaries. I can vote for whomever I wish in the general election without kissing the Maine GOP hierarchy’s behind. Neo-cons like Webster, Staples, & Cianchette have alienated a huge segment of the people that the GOP needs to even stand a chance in Maine. Patriots will NOT go away, names & parties notwithstanding! We must get these runaway governments back under the People’s control – NOW!

    2. Professional politicans are mainstream, LOL… Paul LePage is doing more for this State to move it forward then all the Professional Governors have in 40 years. . I prefer someone stop the progression by Professional politicans, which in itself is a step forward.

    3. Have you checked out Romney/Ryan. They want to regulate your female reproductive anatomy while letting health insurance companies call the tune that they boogie to.

      1. Shhh, you’ll wake them. They want to believe. Let them have a day to be smug and at peace before you smack them in the face with facts.

  16. I understand using a clothespin to clamp your nostrils shut so that you can’t smell all of the excrement that must be spewing forth from the Rethuglicans at their convention. But what does sticking the clothespin UP  your nose accomplish?

    1. Also wondering if those little plastic lobsters were made in China. Also pointing out that those little American flag lapel pins are technically a violation of flag etiquette.

      1.  GREAT point which is often overlooked! The wearing of flag clothing is also wrong.Yet the ninnies down there are easily distracted by shiny things.

  17. What an embarrassment this whole Ron Paul fiasco has become.  I’m ashamed to be from a state where Ron Paul can win the state convention.  What a joke we’ve become — Nobody in Maine politics can be take seriously — Angus King, Paul LePage, the Ron Paul zombies (they just keep on coming).   Nonetheless, it would probably have been better to just let them be seated…

    1. Do you forget that this is the state that voted for Ross Perot? There are times when we just get so fed up with mainstream politicians that ANYONE with a different idea is appealing.

  18. If the Republic Party really wanted to beat Obama AND were smart, they would have nominated Jon Huntsman. I love to point out that Obama beat McCain/Palin (snicker) in the general election by a margin of votes 9.5 times greater than that by which W “won” both of his elections COMBINED. Most people who voted for Obama knew he was liberal and real liberals are pretty disappointed in his caving to the right at almost every turn. He even stole his lame capitalistic private insurance health care plan from one Willard Romney. It’s hard to imagine who voted for Obama that would change their vote to a Republican. Anyone who does is the ultimate flip flopper. I guess it’s just a matter of how much GOP/Fox News completely fabricated crazy BS people believe.

  19. I will leave the Republican Party for one that has principles – tomorrow! You are wrong Mr. Webster and the other neo-cons who pulled this stunt.

  20. “He also said a walk-out wouldn’t accomplish much except deprive Maine of a voice during the convention.”   (Charlie Webster)   I would say, Charlie, that the Maine delegation had their voices taken away from them before they decided to boycott.

  21. Such a chuckle…These same goofs who would do their best to keep people from voting to prevent “voter fraud” finally learned what real voter fraud looks like…When you don’t blindly follow what the ROBthePUBLICan leadership wants…you get nothing and you like it. And these Ron Paul/Tea Party fools thought things were different. HA! They have been the same for over 200 years. Wake up.

    1. I vote against Dems an I am one. about voter fraud, we don’t like it happening anywhere…. Obama got laughed at by Putin when Obama asked him about voter fraud. Obama was told how courpt he was… It is everywhere and since the political parties split the people on purpose to allow courption on both sides, its the people business from both parties to fix it.

  22. Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.  -John F. Kennedy

Obama and Romney are the same. A vote cast for either is a vote wasted.

  23. ‘Maine delegate, Maine Tea Party founder, and Ron Paul supporter Pete Harring’

–he looks like some bum off the street that walked in

  24. I have a lot more respect for those fools that went down there and got the boot, that I have for that empty suit in the White House

And in November I’m voting Romney,,,,, ABO..!

And I will also be voting Summers & Raye     :-P

  25. What is ridiculous is to continue doing the same mistake over and over again and expecting different results. The economy is in shambles (not the 1% of course) , the dollar is at ultimate low and will be downgraded to least valuable currency in the world soon, inflation skyrocketing, massive taxes imposed, Military and police state, massive bailouts for corp insiders, trespass on all fronts on our bill of rights, massive corruption in government, perpetual war and aggression international policies on behalf of the oil , arms suppliers and contractor lobbies, and the US leading the UN to dictate the NWO
agendas on our sovereign rights.. yet  the majority still swoons to the rhetoric  aimed at social issues,
“mom and pop”, gay or not,  “lets go green” (while DC raided the green funds for profit) and on and on and on. What really confuses me is what platform and party are people really supporting ?. Everything Ive mentioned is the same platform both the Republican and Democratic parties stand for if you do your homework. I suppose pro fascism creeps up  up on people’s values and beliefs unexpectedly just like it did for the German public in ww2.  It is sad to see history repeat itself it seems, but some  have opened their eyes to what is happening, and naturally they are being demonized and ridiculed.

    1. The only thing the media will be talking about is Abortion and Gays.  polictians are smart to devert real issues to fake issues.. this country has gone to down the flush

    2. Your comment is right on the money !  Washington is filled to overflowing with self serving career politicians who seem to enjoy watching the rest of us spin round and round on our way down the drain.  It’s sad to say but this country cannot survive this behavior for much longer. Even sadder is the fact that Washington insiders will most likely position themselves to survive on the backs of the few working men and women we have left !  If history really repeats itself then it’s way past time for another Boston Tea Party , this time politicians should be tossed overboard !

    3. These “radical Mainers” who walked out were some that supported the new Maine GOP Platform created during the prior Maine GOP convention. Locate and read that, and see if it is not a much better – and stronger constitutionally – Platform than others you have seen from either party. I think many will be surprised at its content.

  26. The only thing that I am questioning  now is what to do and which party to vote for. Being a tea party democrat I know I don’t want Obama because he wants to distroy this republic, Yet my morals won’t allow me to vote for Rommey… can the country take more Dems in the house and Senate and four more years of someone who hates America.  We are at a point where both parties are so courpt there is no one to vote for…. Help!!!! what to do….

    1. Check out Gary Johnson.  I’m in the same boat and won’t vote for either of the media backed candidates.  Gary Johnson is my guy this year though many keep telling me it’s a wasted vote.  Wonder how different things could look if all the people who won’t vote third party for that fear actually did…

  27. What class. you make us look like a bunch of fools up here! And if remember correctly, it was offered 10 and 10. Take it or leave it! Stop crying.

    1. Good to know that you’re willing to sell out your principles just for the sake of how someone else perceives you.  Apparently I was raised very differently because in my family and many others I’ve come to know in this state you stand up for what you believe in no matter what others think.  Being an independent thinker is something Mainers are known for.  R or D, I’m happy to see someone standing up to corruption!

  28. The point is here that myself and many others in the state decided to vote for Romney, and these people decided to hijack the convention and have their way with the voting process, all while making it seem like it was legitimate by saying that they were following rules. I can guarantee this will not happen again, as I’m sure everyone is well aware what they are willing to do to advance their cause. These Ron Paul libertarians are not who I thought they were, and they’re not winning over anyone by this little stunt either.

      1. This is a stunt, how can you justify a movement that seeks to put its own candidate in power by overriding the votes of the majority of people? It’s legal theft! I would expect any delegate to act in a fashion that represents the constituents they are representing, not to manipulation of the party process.

  29. i just sent that picture of the two mainers with
cloth pins on their noses to my friends at wror
they will be having one big laugh in the morning
google “wror men from maine ” and you will see what im talking about

  30. The “hijackers” , 7 are US soldiers/veterans who served, to protect our Republic and they also thought that meant playing fair in politics. When they played by the rules, they found the rules are different for the GOP ruling class…………..

  31. Stinks to the high heavens…but what would one expect with this bunch(Romney/Ryan/Webster/Summers/Raye)

  32. What do you expect from Republicans who don’t believe in the right to vote or Democracy for that matter. The new American Taliban are financed by Corporate Fascists.

  33. I just looked again the clothespins with the lobsters stuck in their noses, how attractive, these are all proud moments for Maine people. (“) This election surely is going to be a Dilly.

  34. Check out the video on YouTube. Search for “maine republican convention 2012” and watch the top result. Just sad. Here we have legitimately elected delegates who were stonewalled and ejected from the convention they were asked to attend.

  35. Regardless whether it’s the Republican OR Democratic Party Convention, who pays the BILL for the  Maine Delegates ” vacation “, i.e. plane tickets, rental car, Hotel, hats, clothes pins, meals, etc. ?????

The Maine “delegates” or the taxpayers of the State of Maine ??

The Economy is bordering on the ” Last DEPRESSION ” but Millions are going to be spent on TV commercials, which are often flat out lies.

Brain washing but that’s now ” a politically incorrect term “.

  36. I look forward to interviewing one of my duly elected friends who was kicked out of the Republican convention for being on the wrong side.

If there is anything good about this shameful situation it certainly shows the world once again how the big money people who run the Republican party operate — not that most everyone didn’t already know it. “I’m the big kid on the block and I’m going to go anywhere in the world I want and I’m going to do anything I want and I’m going to take anything I want.”

Ryan gave us a good example of this New-Age-Republican way of thinking when he had a man who spoke out at his meeting thrown to the ground, handcuffed, and dragged off. These clips are seen by people all over the world and remind a few of us older folks of a man in Europe who became quite well-known for doing the exact same thing. How many more points Ryan would have made and how easily he could have defused the situation had he invited his detractor up to the mike to blow off some steam.  But that’s not the way present day Republicans operate.

What harm would it have done to have seated all of Maine’s elected delegates? They would have been quickly and easily silenced and it wouldn’t have changed a thing. — Except that people would have to agree that we are still living in a land where all the votes are counted.

If anything bad comes of all this it has certainly convinced many people who don’t trust our present system that they were right.

    The humble Farmer

    1. I don’t understand why U.S. citizens are not fighting for education and experience requirements for candidates at any level of government office, national standardized voting procedures, including national standards for electing people to the Electoral College.  And, frankly, I do not understand maintaining the Electoral College.

Look at what can happen to a “faithless elector.”  http://history.howstuffworks.com/american-history/electoral-college3.htm

It seems to me that no political party welcomes individuals who will not bow to a party line.

  37. What a joke and a sad one at that.  WHY even bother to have a state GOP and elect anyone to go to this national GOP circus ?  Clearly if the so called state GOP ‘leaders’ don’t like the state delegate outcome they challenge the outcome and then CHANGE the delegate outcome all in order to suit their particular agenda (which is then backed by, go figure, the national GOP.)  Does this sound like a democratic process to anyone else?  It’s a sham and so is the GOP.

  38. ron paul supporters did an excellent job! embarrassing the
whole state of Maine in front of a national audience.
…now go back to living under a rock..better yet, pack your
bags and move out of Maine

    1. I would much prefer the traitors pack up and leave the state. You know, the ones who undermined the will of the people of Maine?

      1. the ron paul supporters look like a trailer would be a move
UP in life, from the homeless shelters

  39. WVOM just reported: ‘”ron paul may boycot the rest of the convention’

GO AHEAD! whats taking you so long?  is it the free food handouts?

    1. Who would listen to the ric and george show, 2 of the biggest liberals on Maine talk radio… Have you ever heard anything of substance on that show?.. What’s your favorite tv show, LOL!! Or if they do get a guest they never ask hard questions…  You will wait forever for them to ask a tough question..  I broke free over a year ago, The pulse, radio show talk substance, at least they are honest where they stand and they have great interviews.

  40. They will lead the country the same way they have lead the primaries

They will have the country right back to where we were in their run from 2000-2008.Wars,deregulation,tax cuts for the wealthy and no healthcare reform

  41. So GOP, just choose and declare who’s King whenever you need a new one, and dispense with the expense (to us) and inconvenience (to you) of having to cast  and count ballots on a four year schedule. Way more convenient.

  42. “[Webster] also said a walkout wouldn’t accomplish much except deprive Maine of a voice during the convention.”  Embarrassing for a state Party chair, but it’s the result of trying to deprive Mainers of their voice in the caucuses.

  43. It’s a relief to have, at least, one of the major political parties, finally, have the courage to remove some of the immature fringe and their juvenile stunts from center stage. How about the other party doing the same. Maturity in our political parties has been absent far too long.

    1. Wishful thinking. Now to get rid of Bachmann,Palin,Akin,Joe Walsh,Steve King and a bunch more nuts.Give their constituents effective representation for a change.

  44. I watched the roll call of stats yesterday and do not understand why the pretty girl who repeated the vote of each state never recounted the Paul votes, only the Romney votes.  What was up with that?  I found that quite odd.

  45. To paraphrase  Winston Churchill”Never has so much ink and time been spent on so few who meant so little to so many”

  46. Those that walked out acted just like the ones they were protesting about.  The walk outs are moronic.  Imbeciles that protest exactly what they preach are a non-entity.  Why not use proper protocol and be heard in an intelligent manner?  Answer:  They simply are not intelligent enough.

  47.  Not to mention that states were moved around so that those states with the highest proportion of Paul delegates are in the nosebleed seats and people like the Marianas Islands delegates who will cause no fuss are right up front.I do not like or support Paul but it’s apparent to anyone that the silencing is beginning. What group is next?

  48. Not a surprise that those who serve are disrespected by this party.Look up what was done to Tammy Duckworth by Joe Walsh and Max Cleland being destroyed in GA,to name just two instances.

  49. Lovely clothes pins….you do this state proud all we need is LePage down there opening his mouth along with the rest of the Maine GOP and we would have the perfect trifecta of embarrassment for the state of Maine……Oy.

  50.  What about $2.5B spent on ads this year?Imagine the good that could be done with even a fraction of that money in the right places.

  51. Some unhappy disenfranchised Republicans will probably be voting the Democratic ticket in November.

  52. How do you expect to be taken seriously while having a clothes pin in your nose? Not to mention wearing a baseball hat to a formal  event?

Suit up and watch at the respect you are given. (not a political comment just a social comment)

    1. Oh god, I didn’t notice the pony tail… How can anyone be taken seriously showing up looking like that?

    2. Bob Carlson always dressed up and decieved the public. The RNC dressed up and stole votes. The town manager of Milo dressed up and Stole 45K from a non profit. Where do you want to go with this and the respect comment… Lets dig a little pass the surface before we give respect for suits. (-:

      1. I get what you are saying, but when you are trying to get a message across (good or bad) it’s important to not look like a crazy person.

This is the issue that the legalize pot people have. One dreadlocked hippy shows up at a rally and that is what gets shown on the news and it give people the impression of everyone for the issue is a dirty hippy.

    3. That clothespin had to have hurt like heck! Guess he never considered putting it on the OUTSIDE of his nostrils.

  53. As Maine goes,so goes the Nation!!!!!Romney just lost the election!!!!!I AM VERY PROUD OF THE MAINE DELEGATES BECAUSE THEY COULDN’T BE BOUGHT BY THE REP.GOP!!!!

    1. LOL!!! The funny thing is not the photo,  it is more funny that the people of this country are surface surfing and don’t read the story.

  54. So funny that they would walk out. They were sold out by their own candidate. He reached an agreement with the RNC that in exchange for the delagates he was to be honored during the convention and that Rand Paul would get to address the convention. This was all about posturing Rand Paul for a future run.

    1.  Right.  Ron Paul and Rand Paul may be related, but Ron’s views aren’t exactly the same as Rands.  Instead of dreaming up conspiracy theories, you should look into Ron’s views and compare them to Rand.  However, I doubt you’ll do this.  You tell yourself what you want to hear and keep voting Democrat.

  55. The caucus system for selecting presidential nominating delegates opens a door for well-organized activists to turn out in force and nominate a dark horse candidate. That may not reflect the preferences of Republicans who don’t bother to caucus, but those are the rules. There’s no justification for the entrenched party hacks to simply change the rules after the fact, and appoint a delegation that suits their taste, and damn the voters.

  56. I am not sure why the Repubs bothered with primaries and a convention.  The back room bosses could have made their pick and called it good.  Repub democracy at it’s finest!

  57. Aroostook Watchmen interviewed 4 of the delegates that weren’t seated this morning on their show. They record  their shows. Great interviews.

  58. It’s an outrage, of course, especially since the ten replaced would have put Ron Paul over the top and given him the nomination. Oh, wait, no, it wouldn’t have.

The party should have respected its rules, but Ron Paul supporters also need to comprehend what Rick Santorum supporters, Rick Perry supporters, Michele Bachmann supporters, Newt Gingrich supporters, Herman Cain supporters, and all other also-rans have had to deal with: Your candidate lost. Move on.

  59. Your “protest” make you look like a band of fools.  It’s a time to unify as a party, look at the numbers, Mitt is the nominee.

  60. Everyone knew Rommey was going to win. Everyone in the country, no question, straight across the board… There was more to this than stealing Ron Paul Delegates… The Maine RNC Like Charlie Webster and Peter Cianchette, Summers etc. etc see a job opening for them personally if Rommey is elected.. It wasn’t about anything else. People say well its about the party..LOL, grow up. These guys are looking for Federal post that give them power and makes them tons of money period..  They are only looking to benefit themselves and could care less for Maine people…. Don’t assume they did it for the Party the did it for themselves… OHHHH MY  PRECIOUS $$$$$$$$$$.

  61. When is Maine going to go to primary elections instead of a caucus? It’s been discussed, but is there any real movement in that direction? If there is a primary instead, would that solve issues like this one? Or can the delegates still be split like this year?

  62. I know several people who were part of the Maine delegation to the National Convention…their intention was to start a floor fight to make it look like the party was completely disorganized.  Plan backfired.

  63. 1. Who was the genius who planned for a convention in Florida during its hurricane season?
    2. Who would want to even consider voting for a Republican, since they can’t even get a grip w/
         all this infighting?
    3. Does anyone else see the Paul supporters as children whose parents never said “no?”  They don’t
seem to grasp the concept of majority rule.

  64. I find it interesting that someone connected LePage’s absence at the convention to Ron Paul.  So is the implication that LePage doesn’t support Romney?!

    1.  It even funny, because Ron Paul and his son are both listed as Romney supporters on the RNC wesite.  Lepage is listed as uncommited, so Lepage dosn’t endorse anyone.?

  65. I plan on writing Ron Paul’s name in on the ballot in Nov. That’s the only way I can see walking out of the polls with a clean conscience.

  66. I am so very happy to see so many of Maine’s hard working citizens waking up!! The Present Day GOP is NOT the party of your Fathers and Grandfathers. It has become the Party of Opportunists and Worshipers of  self profiteering at any cost including the majority of Maine’s population.  Remember in November! I hope this will include replacing your self serving Governor and his cronies!

  67. Once again Charlie Webster shows his contempt for anything resembling a legitimate election process.

  68. Democrats – All the wars + 10% more new socialism (Obama)
Republicans – All the socialism + 10% more new wars (Romney)

People – who may be Republicans or Democrats (or neither) don’t necessarily want more socialism and more wars, and they sometimes try very very hard to nominate a Presidential candidate who wants fewer wars and less socialism.  They lose, almost always.

The more a candidate wants fewer wars and less socialism, the more that candidate will be cheated.  See: Ron Paul.

The amount of cheating against Ron Paul yesterday and the days and week (or weeks)  before the convention was stunning.  Rarely will the media cover these things.

Buses containing the Virginia and Rhode Island delegations (delegations with a large Ron Paul contingent) were not allowed into the Convention area until the Rules Committee meeting (where they were deciding whether it was ok to screw Ron Paul) was over.

Ron Paul got enough support to have his name placed into nomination.  He had the support of 6 states.  2 weeks ago, you needed 5 states.  Less than 2 weeks ago, they changed it to 8 states.  This was not voted on.  It was  just declared.  By Romney. I could go on and on about all the cheating that Romney did. It’s been happening in the states for months.  Ben Ginsberg, Romneys top lawyer, was in Maine, at the convention in May, going places where he wasn’t allowed to be.  I was there.  He was cheating,  Romneys people were cheating in Oregon.  Stealing ballots.  They were caught on video, it’s available on youtube.

Romney is a worse person than Obama.  Everything Obama does is awful, but he doesn’t seem to do it in an awful manner.  Romney seems to specialize in being awful.  Romney seems like a high-strung dictator.  We really don’t want that.

Things are fine the way they are now.  By fine, I mean, the Republicans have Obama pretty much in check.  If the House stays in R hands, Obama will be prevented from doing more damage, and in 2016, we could possibly get a candidate who wants less socialism. Romney doesn’t.

Repeal and REPLACE?  REPLACE?  Romney wants to REPLACE Obamacare.  Maybe with something worse than Obamacare.  Romney is a Liberal Socialist who is wearing a Republican hat.

  69. I am a female Republican who is so disgusted with the lack of respect Maine’s mostly male delegates demonstrated at the convention. So much so, that I just might change my vote this year. The delegates have made fools of Maine Republicans and the state in general.  This just demonstrates the continued lack of connectivity they have with other Republicans, especially female Republicans. It’s their way or no way, it’s that way about abortion and every other subject, including the nomination at the convention. Plugging your nose with a clothespin is what a 2-year-old might do, not grown men. To those who represented the state and did this, you make me SICK!

  70. Let’s move on!  Ron Paul is never going to be President!  The BDN likes to keep printing these non-issues as lead stories in order to make it seem like the Republican party is in disarray!

    1.  Sure, but he had a legit chance to become president.  He qualified for the convention then they switched around the rules.  Isn’t that shady?  How could you ignore this?  Sure, maybe the guy didn’t stand a chance, but let him lose fair and square.   Wanting to sweep this corruption under the rug is wrong. The Republican party is in disarray.

  71. Every vote counts, but not every vote gets to decide the outcome. You have made everyone in Maine look like complete fools. A bunch of spoiled children. Why is our country so messed up? Clowns like these representing our state. Someone from Washington County was crying? Why? Because if Washington County hadn’t waited until the very last minute to hold their primary we would have avoided all this ridiculous commotion. RON PAUL was never going to win. He was never going to even have a chance. But say the words “legalize marijuana” and his followers try to hijack the entire election system.

  72.  So, if one had two choices, one a vote for freedom and the other for tyranny, and someone says “but freedom can never win”, then we should just vote for tyranny? I’ve voted republican for fifty years (a half century) and I voted in my state caucus and I voted for the delegates who got unjustly and unfairly and undemocratically shortchanged. Hence, my vote was thrown out by the RNC, my input as a fellow republican disrespected, and my party affiliation is therefore ended forthwith, as I’m sure is the case for thousands of other Maine republicans who weren’t smitten with Mittens. What happened on the state level was obnoxious enough. What happened in Tampa was criminal and more worthy of the lands of Stalin or Mao. Make no mistake, not only will Romney lose, so will the Maine republicons come next election. Shame on them!

  73. This is awful.  I use to think these elections were all fixed.  Now I KNOW it’s all fixed.  The establishment picks our candidates, then the media markets them to us.  There’s no choice.
