BERWICK, Maine — A motorcyclist was transported to Wentworth-Douglass Hospital with severe injuries following a crash on Hubbard Road Thursday afternoon.
According to Berwick Police Chief Tim Towne, authorities were first notified about an injured motorcyclist on the side of Hubbard Road at around 2:20 p.m.
The driver of the motorcycle, Dana Doucet, with no known address, went off the side of Hubbard Road. His Harley-Davidson motorcycle, Towne estimated, was roughly 25 feet into the brush off the roadside.
According to Towne, state police contacted the Berwick Police Department earlier in the day, at around 11:30 a.m., and stated they should be on the lookout for Doucet. State police reportedly went to an address in Lebanon to interview Doucet in relation to a stolen vehicle complaint.
Doucet, however, left the residence on his Harley-Davidson. Although Berwick police officers patrolled the area around Hubbard Road, attempts to locate Doucet were unsuccessful until around 2:20 p.m. — at which point motorists passing through the area noticed him crawling out of the woods.
It’s possible, Towne said, that Doucet went off the road as early as 11:30 a.m. after fleeing the Lebanon residence. He may have lost and regained consciousness before mustering the strength to drag himself to the roadside.
Traffic on Hubbard Road was slowed Thursday afternoon as officers reviewed the scene of the accident. The investigation into the crash in ongoing.

25 feet into the brush? He was moving….Hopefully he’ll be ok to face what he needs to face.
LOUD PIPES SAVES LIVES!
this was ANNACIDENT!
and WHY are the police looking at a person on a motorcyle …FOR A STOLEN VEHICLE! what, the biker had the stolen vehicle in his pocket? HA!
thus is descrimanation! by youse folks that dont like bikers ……..like whoopie -do
loud pipes cause accidents and do nothing but annoy people.
…owns two motorcycles, both with stock pipes, relatively quiet, and almost 80,000 miles scratch-free…
Loud pipes do not save lives. They save the egos of those riders less skilled.
What a pertinent comment because obviously this rider would not be alive today if his motorcycle hadn’t been blatting loudly as he embarked on his unintended, brief tour of the Maine woods!
PS, before you group me in with anyone who think doesn’t like bikers, I am one. But I have a stock exhaust system on my bike and it’s very quiet. I do have a loud, high pitched horn that I can use on the rare occasion when I feel the need to let my presence be known to inattentive drivers.
Tell me how loud pipes save lives in cases where a car turns in front of you? Better to have a loud horn than BLATT-BLATT-BLATT pipes.
PS…I ride too and don’t need the ego boost of obnoxious pipes.
I’m a biker (2000 Triumph) hoping your post was meant as a joke; I can’t read how it makes any point worth making. Otherwise, I’m guessing you’re a non-rider trying to make bikers look really, really stupid. I do agree though, that there’s no way on God’s green earth that anyone who rides a motorcycle could possibly have anything to do with any type of stolen vehicle. (Huh? What?)
Scully too tight?
