BANGOR, Maine — A local transient was charged with four offenses last week after he drunkenly barged into his ex-girlfriend’s residence, threatened to kill her, damaged her property and then took items out of her purse, Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said Tuesday.

Sean McLean, 28, was arrested for felony domestic violence threatening, as well as criminal mischief and theft by unauthorized taking at around 1:30 a.m. Aug. 31.

“He came over and said he was intoxicated and kind of pushed himself into the apartment,” Edwards said. “Then he wouldn’t leave.”

While in the apartment, McLean kept mentioning knives and then destroyed the fire extinguisher, according to the sergeant.

“She grabbed her two young kids and left screaming,” Edwards said.

By the time police arrived, McLean had gotten into a taxicab and taken it to Brewer, where he was arrested by officers from that city. He also was charged with theft of services for not paying his cab bill.

McLean was taken to Penobscot County Jail and later released, Edwards said.

    1. With everything going on lately – assault, theft, etc. it is important that people understand and exercise their second amendment rights so that they don’t have to be afraid in their own homes.

  1. How long will it be before this character is arrested again?  Not long, I’ll wager. Guys like this must make it very frustrating to be a police officer.

  2. What is it about these men that makes women fall for them? Is it the bad boy syndrome? Women with  children should be especially careful.

    1. Do not try and figure it out . Most would dump  decent hard working guy for someone like this in  heart beat.

      1. “Most”? So most women are more attracted to abusing losers than decent guys? What the heck are you writing about?

  3. Transients in the News! Special thanks to Manna, Hope House and the Homeless Shelter for attracting this to our town.

    1. Not sure if “Local transient” means he grew up here or otehrwise has lived here a long time and is recently “transient”  Not everyone is a lifelong “transient”.  Not sticking up for the guy, just sayin’…

  4.  What did I miss? He was charged with  felony domestic violence, but no mention that he touched her, seems odd.

    1. He pushed his way in and threatened her. Stole from her, too. I guess pushing his way in was the violence.
