GREENBUSH, Maine — A man has been arrested after a camp under renovation on the County Road was burglarized last month and a number of building materials were taken.
Penobscot County Sheriff’s Deputy Patty McLaughlin, who began her investigation on Aug. 22, discovered that “boards, flooring, a stand-up shower [were] taken from inside” the camp, Troy Morton, deputy chief for Penobscot County, said Tuesday. “It wasn’t nailed down — it was all new stuff” that was to be installed.
McLaughlin’s investigation led her to Leonard Wells Jr. 53, of Greenbush, who reportedly was using some of the stolen building materials, Morton said.
Wells was arrested for felony burglary and theft by unauthorized taking and brought to the Penobscot County Jail. He could spend up to five years in prison if convicted of either charge.

Great job Deputy!
Maybe he’s the guy that stole my stuff from Spring Bridge Rd….. Good job, Patty………
you can count on it being him, thats how he makes his living
Greenbush has always been known for their class act citizens. If there is anyone who earns an honest living, please speak up. It is like the “Deliverance” movie out there.
Um sorry ta burst your bubble –there are peeps out there that have worked hard their whole life and never taken anything from the state to exist–and paid the taxes just like everyone else and are very good honest hard working people–So the only thing “deliverance” about this is your ignorant, backwoods , stereo typing comment which proves you the “class act” of which you set your throne above.
I live in Greenbush and work everyday to take care of my 3 kids. I own my house, pay my bills, and my kids are well fed and I don’t have to steal to make this happen. You cant generalize an entire town because of a few losers.
I got to disagree with you on your comment, I lived out there for 20 years, back when the spring bridge road was a dirt pot hole filled road. I always worked 6 days a week sometimes 12-16 hours a day, still do, I’d be working right now but had to shut down because of the amount of rain we got. Im a logging contractor, I had to move north after the paper company sold off the studmill road, some of my crew still live in Greenbush, these men come to work 5-6 days a week, work hard, travel long hours, Theres people there that work at Old town canoe, labrees, sams club, renzo construction, madddens logging companys, sargents construction co,3 heating +plumbing companys,1 oil company, self employed construction companys, self employed Loggers, yes the crime out there has gotten bad, I gotta blame that on all the bad drugs that are out there now, look at Bangor, its everywhere now
Its about time they catch someone out there, my friends camp on the Country Road has been broken into numerous times over the last few years.
Yep, as long as its someone who pays, we’ll all sleep better at night.
you can guarantee it was mr wells that did it,hes robbed places for miles around that area for years, will be back at it as soon as hes out of jail, been doing it for his whole life….
Well, well, well (pun intended)….guess everyone gets their just desserts in the end don’t they….from what I have heard Mr. Wells is a career criminal….does anyone know if there is a three strikes law for these kind of offenses? I hope so cause then hopefully he will go away for a long, long time….much longer than five years and as one of his victims (although he was sneaky enough that I couldn’t prove it) I would like to see justice served…… maybe he can tell on his accomplices to get off easy……..
