MOUNT VERNON, Maine — A Mount Vernon man was killed late Tuesday afternoon when a collision threw him from the lawn tractor he was driving, according to police.
Manley Damren, 76, was operating his John Deere lawn tractor southbound on Weeks Mills Road when a Subaru Outback driven by Charles Morse, 60, of Mount Vernon struck the rear of the tractor, Capt. Dan Davies of the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office stated in a news release.
When police arrived just after 5:30 p.m., they found Damren lying on the side of the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The release stated that when Damren’s tractor was struck, he was thrown against Morse’s vehicle then off to the side of the road. The lawn tractor was sent into the wood line.
Morse was not injured in the crash, which remains under investigation. Maine State Police Trooper Chris Rogers is reconstructing the crash.

My condolences to the family. My prayers are with you.
