PORTLAND, Maine — A small plane caught fire at Portland International Jetport on Thursday morning but crews extinguished it before it caused any damage, according to officials.

A person tending the private four-seat plane on the tarmac noticed sparks coming from the brake set and dialed 911, city spokeswoman Nicole Clegg said Thursday.

Portland firefighters responded and extinguished the fire within five to 10 minutes, Clegg said.

Nobody was injured in the incident, and the plane was not damaged.
