PARIS, Maine — A Paris man who had been charged with sexually assaulting a boy 20 years ago pleaded guilty to a reduced charge Tuesday in Oxford County Superior Court.
Kendrick J. Dorsch, 57, of 27 Gothic St. in Paris pleaded to one count of sexual abuse of a minor. Three charges of gross sexual assault were dismissed. Dorsch was sentenced to four years in jail, with all but six months suspended. He’ll be on probation for two years.
Former Paris police officer Zane Loper arrested Dorsch last October after a man reported to Paris police that Dorsch had sexually abused him in the early 1990s, when the man was between 12 and 14 years old. Loper, who now works for the Oxford Police Department, used a recording device to record Dorsch admitting to abusing the boy years ago.
Dorsch can have no contact with children under 16 years. He must receive sex offender counseling and will be listed on the Maine sex offender registry. He must report to jail for his six month sentence on Sept. 28.
The sentence strikes me as too little too late. But at least the system is holding this creep accountable to some degree.
The victim only came forward last year. Had he come forward sooner, I’m sure he would have been sentenced sooner as well.

You have this guy and many others getting these light sentences for violating young children, and committing serious crimes ,that impact the victims for all there lives, then in Texas you have a teacher of age and 5 adults teens , who are all in consent and she gets five years, I agree it wasn’t right, but just where is the justice ?? What would these judges do if in fact it was a family member. There needs to be mandates to sentences and strick guidelnes for them to go by, It’s apparent common sense is out !!!!
