HOLDEN, Maine — A Brewer woman was arrested on several charges early Wednesday after police said they found multiple prescription drugs in her vehicle during a traffic stop.

A resident contacted police at 1:49 a.m. to report that someone was driving erratically, according to Holden police Officer Chris Greeley.

Greeley said he was able to find the vehicle — driven by Marcie Moellentin, 23 — on South Road traveling at low speed and weaving across the road.

“Even though it was going slow I thought it was going to go off the road,” he said. “I was able to catch up with it very quickly.”

Brewer police Officer Liz Kelley came to the scene to assist Greeley, and police said an investigation turned up numerous drugs in Moellentin’s vehicle.

In addition to an open container of Mike’s Hard Lemonade, police found Xanax, perindopril, Ativan, Ambien, Adderall XR and some empty suboxone strips, Greeley explained.

“She didn’t have prescriptions for any of these drugs,” Greeley said.

Moellentin was arrested and charged with operating under the influence, operating after suspension, possession of a Schedule Z drug, a Schedule W drug and a Schedule D drug, and driving with an open container of alcohol, Greeley said.

“Dealing with a female, having Officer Kelley able to come out was very helpful,” he said.

Moellentin was booked into the Penobscot County Jail and later released on bail. (Ryan McLaughlin, BDN)

  1. Just another reason I decided to sell our Maine property.  Adios to the druggies, drunks, and judges who feel sympathy for criminals instead of their victims.  I’ve lived in some states with drug problems, but nothing like Maine.

    1. So what state are in you in now? Out of all the states I have lived in Maine has the least amount of druggies and drunks.

      1. Over all Maine is still one of safest States, but drug crime increased 8% over the last two years. Most other States have seen a decrease during that same period. Let’s hope we can stop this trend.

      2. Kevin, would that be a per-capita observation? Here in Mass, we have 3 times the # of licensed drivers than is the entire population of Maine, yet drug store robberies are relatively rare . We tend to have the crack heads and heroin users, while American rural areas seem to prefer pills and crystal meth.
        Just my observations…..
