WATERBORO, Maine — A 47-year-old man died Monday afternoon while trying to push an ATV out of the mud in Waterboro, according to the Maine Warden Service.
Few details were available about the incident Monday evening. The service stated in its announcement it is not yet releasing the man’s name, and his cause of death is described in the release as “a medical event” which took place while the victim and two other friends attempted to push the ATV free.
According to game wardens, the man was operating a Polaris RZR ATV, which accommodates two passengers, on wooded trails in Waterboro when the vehicle became stuck in the mud. The man died at approximately 2 p.m. during the group effort to move the ATV out of the mud.
Maine Game Warden Eric Blanchard was identified in the service announcement as the primary investigating officer, while Warden Sergeant Tim Spahr was credited with assisting on the case. The York County Sheriff’s Office and Waterboro Fire and Rescue Department were also at the scene, according to the warden service.

Is the media so desperate to get an ATV accident into the paper that they have to fill the story with useless information? Things such as the type of ATV, and the primary game warden are filler for a story lacking serious information. Some advice: WAIT UNTIL YOU GET THE INFORMATION!!!! Oh wait, it’s the media they don’t need to get the WHOLE story, or the truth.
If the BDN is so bad, why do you read it? Surely you can read The New York Times online…
It’s not just the BDN, it’s ALL media. And are you seriously defending this article? It lacks total story. It’s nothing but a bunch of filler. And why is it anytime someone dies on an ATV or a snowmobile it has to go straight to print? Ten people died on Maine’s highways over Labor Day and we heard little or nothing about the accidents, other than 10 people died.
I am not defending this article. I am simply asking why you bother to waste your time on something you feel is so worthless? Spend your valuable time reading something with more substance and that lives up to your standards.
You have to realize the smaller the market, the lower the quality you will find in the media. While it shouldn’t be that way, it is because when a person gets experience and improves, they move on to bigger markets.
I see you know nothing about print media every news out let tries to be first to print the news so they can get readers to go to there site they want to be the first to know about break news . So they can brag that they were the first to let the public know on breaking news .
I understand what your saying, but who is the BDN trying to scoop? They are the only game in town.
I know as much about print media as the next person. If you took the time to read between the lines, you would see not only the point I am trying to prove, but the sarcasm in my post.
Lol. They do get desperate, agreed!
Sounds like to poor dude had a heart attack. Condolences to the family. Sad thing to be going out for some fun, and end up like that.
All of the best to his friends and family, I’m sorry for your loss.
