STEUBEN – Philip Hodgkins, 83, went home to be with his Lord, Sept. 14, 2012. He was born May 1, 1929, in Steuben, to Thomas and Eleanor (Whitten) Hodgkins.
He lived in Steuben and was self-employed most of his life working in the woods and on construction. Philip was a veteran of the Korean War in the U.S. Army. He married Pauline Robbins Reed, Oct. 31, 1951, and they had three children, Faye, Wayne and Rowena. In 1956, he joined Unionville Church of God, being a faithful member until his death.
Philip was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Eleanor Hodgkins; three brothers, Waddel, Adfer and Roger Hodgkins; his wife of 37 years, Pauline; daughter, Rowena; and son, Wayne. He is survived by his second wife, Carrie Stanwood West, whom he married June 12, 1989; her three children, Denice, Thad andwife, Missy, and Christina; daughters, Sandra Atwater and husband, Forrest, Donna Atwell, and Faye Bushey and husband, Randy; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, at Unionville Church of God, 661 Mogador Road, Steuben. Arrangements by Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Homes, Milbridge.
