HERMON – Stanley Arthur Young, 90, died Sept. 22, 2012, at his home. He was born Sept. 14, 1922, in Bonne Bay, Newfoundland, the son of William and Annie (McKenzie) Young.
He attended Bangor schools and served three years in the U.S. Army during World War II, most of which was in the South Pacific. His hobby was boat building. He retired from Webber Oil Co., where he worked for more than 30 years.
He is survived by his wife, Joan; three sons, Donald and Barbara of Vassalboro, James and Millie of Monson, and David and Denise of Hampden; grandson, Michael Young of Pittston; granddaughter, Keli Young of Lisbon; great-granddaughter, Darian Lavoie of Portland; brother-in-law, Edward Shorey Jr. and wife, Ruth, of Bangor; sister, Annie and Chester Terrill of Hermon; brother, Robert Treadwell of Veazie; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, Edwin Young of Wisconsin; and a sister, Blanche Turner of Indiana.
There will be no services per his request, but a gathering of family and friends will be held 1-3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, at his home.
