WATERVILLE, Maine — A father and son are facing charges after the juvenile stole what police described as “leafy green substances” from Joe’s Smoke Shop on Main Street Monday morning.
Sven Grickscheit, 35, of Waterville, who was out on bail for domestic violence assault charges, was arrested when he violated those conditions, while his 16-year old son was charged with theft, Waterville Deputy Chief Charles Rumsey said.
The call came in to police around 11 a.m., when two Joe’s employees witnessed the juvenile take the substances from the store and flee.
Rumsey said the witnesses tracked the boy to Front Street, and found him with Grickscheit. The duo walked away and crossed the river into Winslow.
However, the witnesses already had contacted police, and Winslow police found the pair and detained them before their counterparts from Waterville arrived, according to Rumsey.
Police found Grickscheit to be intoxicated — a violation of his bail — so he was arrested and taken to Kennebec County Jail, while the 16-year-old was charged with theft and taken into the custody of the Department of Health and Human Services, Rumsey said.
Grickscheit remained in the Kennebec County Jail on Tuesday. He had been arrested for domestic violence assault on Sept. 15.
He violated his bail bond while bonding with his son, what a shame.
“leafy green substances”? Come on Waterville PD. What is it?. The father is leading his son down a path in life he should be ashamed of.
I totally agree,i felt sorry for this poor kid not having a decent role model in his life,the substance was a herbal smoking blend containing a synthetic substance that mimics the effects of THC/marijuana. JWH-018 or one of its analogs,possibly even one from the C.P family,i was down by the water front when these (*&*tads brought there drama down there and disrupted my attempt to enjoy a beer along the river. This isnt even something that most people should have to steal a single gram of JWH online costs aproximently 10-20$ and can be used to lace 1-2 ounces of inert tobabco or herbal smoking blend. Thats enough to spin a casual smoker for days.

Teach him to FISH or or something constructive!! My daughter stole a lighter years ago, and I made her take it back . Grounded her for 2 months, and she lost her electricity for two weeks. ( no T.V. cell phone etc..) When it got dark she went to bed like a little baby. Needless to say she learned. Now she is about to graduate school. And she turned out to be a fine young lady. I hope she keeps up the good work!!
Any male with the proper equipment in good working order can help make a child. But that is not quite the same as being a father. A good father teaches his children values and demonstrates through his behavior what the right thing to do is.
the kid is 16 and still has a long way to go hopefully this will put him on the right path in life and not take the road his so called father did hey dad u need to step up and set a much better example
