CARMEL – Donna Ruth Goodspeed, 57, passed peacefully at home, Sept. 25, 2012, surrounded by her loving family. Donna was born July 25, 1955, to Ruth V. and Donald P. Candage Sr.
Donna is survived by her husband of 38 years, Robert L. Goodspeed, their children, Craig S. Goodspeed and his wife, Amber, Amanda B. Hay and her husband, Brandon, Joseph R. Goodspeed and his wife, Miranda, Robert R. Goodspeed and his fiancee, Danielle; her brothers, Donald Candage Jr. and his wife, Brenda, and Dennis Candage and his fiancee, Sheri; her grandchildren, Bradley and Brooke; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and her border collie, Princess.
Donna was active in the 4-H club, entering many state fairs with her parents’ Hereford cattle and her horse, Abner. She enjoyed a special bond with all animals, and often had her furry grandchildren underfoot. Donna graduated from Eastern Maine Medical School of Nursing as a registered nurse in 1976. She had certifications in surgical nursing and oncology and dedicated her career to helping patients and researching innovative treatments for cancer patients. Throughout her career, Donna has been an angel and touched the lives of countless patients with her kindness and attentive loving care. Donna enjoyed knitting, crafting, rooting for the Red Sox, retail therapy with her daughters, sister-by-choice, Vicki Darrah and granddaughter, baking cakes and cookies for her children, grandchildren, family and friends, convincing her husband to make improvements to the house, spending time with lifelong friends, the Darrah Family and filling her home with joy and laughter.
Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. Please honor Donna and her family with donations in the name of Donna R.
