FAIRFIELD, Maine — A lottery ticket worth more than $8 million was sold at a local convenience store.

Maine State Lottery officials said Wednesday night’s winning Megabucks Plus ticket was purchased at the Big Apple in Fairfield. The jackpot was $8,175,000.

No one has come forward yet to claim the prize, which state officials say is among the largest ever in the three-state lottery game.

The Morning Sentinel reports that employees at the Big Apple store on Route 104 speculate the winner is a resident who is not in the habit of checking his or her ticket right away.

The next jackpot, on Saturday, will be $1 million.

    1. I’m sure that I’m also related somehow. So you and I must be distantly related. Don’t worry about finding the winner. I’ll put in a good word for you when I see them in person.
