BATH, Maine — A Bath man accused of what authorities called a “vicious” knife attack on his girlfriend that nearly killed her is scheduled to plead guilty.
Prosecutors say 29-year-old Matthew Wycoff has agreed to plead guilty Friday to a charge of elevated aggravated assault.
Sagadahoc County District Attorney Geoffrey Rushlau tells The Portland Press Herald the negotiated plea agreement calls for a sentence of 15 years, with eight to serve. In exchange, a charge of attempted murder will be dismissed.
Police say Wycoff stabbed the victim on the neck and shoulders with a steak knife in February after the pair had argued in their home.
Wycoff fled the apartment but was arrested a short while later at a gas station in Topsham.
Sentencing will be at a later date.

Oh!
Bath Man!
I thought the story was about,
Batman!
OPPS!
I’ll bet his momma is proud.
The eyes give it away. Total nut job.
Good that he is taking responsibility for his actions. Probably only as a result of a plea bargain, but at least he will be locked up rather than on the loose.
Wasn’t there a story here recently about Maine having the most knife assaults per capita? That’s why I train in Krav Maga. At least gives me a chance.
Was the victim included in the plea deal?
This state is loaded with crazy vicious men. The women don’t stand a chance with a stranger. True there are some crazy vicious women also.
