BAR HARBOR, Maine — A cyclist riding on the trail alongside Acadia National Park’s Bubble Pond fell Friday afternoon and was airlifted to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor for treatment of internal injuries.

Ranger Ed Pontbriand, who is a park emergency services coordinator, said Saturday morning the 53-year-old woman from Manchester, N.H., was stabilized at the scene before being taken by Bar Harbor Ambulance to Mount Desert Island Hospital. From there, she was flown to Bangor.

No information about the woman’s condition was available late Sunday morning, according to an EMMC spokesperson.

The woman was discovered unconscious on the trail at about 1 p.m., Pontbriand said. Her name is not being released.

        1. no im not so move on but yet it ok for people to worry about my post see it works both ways so u will half to live with it

  1. Am I missing something here?  A woman from another state is seriously hurt in ANP and so far all the comments are about wild black bears, loud pipes, plastic lobsters, cheesecake ice cream and porcupines.  People–what’s wrong with you?  This woman is in distress, a long way from home and foolish dribble is all you can come up with?

    1. that because they are idiots till it happens to them  or there kids
an then they would be all over everyone for making those comments

  2. Wishing this woman a complete and speedy recovery!

She’s lucky that someone discovered her.  Please let this serve as a reminder to let someone know where you expect to bike, hike, climb, run, walk, etc when you go out alone. That way, if you fail to return, and the authorities are alerted, they have a general idea of where to look. Had someone not happened upon this woman when they did, it may have been a different outcome.

    1.  Internal injuries can change a person’s status in a major hurry. It takes an hour (or more) to get to Bangor from Bar Harbor by car. Yes, an ambulance can cut that time down, but not really by a lot. It takes 15 minutes to get someone to Bangor from Bar Harbor by Life Flight. That extra 45 minutes (or more) might mean the difference between life and death for some people.
