OLD TOWN, Maine — Trouble was brewing at the Riverfront Pub as the bar began to close down early Sunday, and the bartender didn’t wait for the fights to break out before calling for police help, Old Town police Sgt. Scott Casey said.

“The bartender said something was about to break out” when he called at 1:25 a.m., the sergeant said.

Local police, assisted by units from Orono Police Department, converged on the bar, where 40 to 50 people were standing outside, said Casey. Maine State Police troopers and deputies from Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the call.

Several fights broke out, and two men involved in the main brawl were arrested, Casey said. Garrett Hayman, 30, of Milford and Tyson MacArthur, 25, of Old Town were both charged with disorderly conduct and taken to Penobscot County Jail in Bangor.

Why the two men were fighting is something Casey said he did not know. The investigation into the bar fight has not been completed and it’s likely that others may face charges, the sergeant said. Both Hayman and MacArthur were released on bail sometime Sunday, he said.

        1. One of them probably had something in his eye and the other thought he was giving him a ‘look’.  You know how drunken paranoia makes one act stupid.
