WATERVILLE, Maine — A simple noise complaint Saturday night led Waterville police to a man wanted by Missouri on a burglary charge.
Officers were sent to a Maple Street apartment for a complaint around 11:30 p.m., and after Claude Authement, 43, was identified, police determined he was a fugitive from justice and arrested him, Deputy Chief Charles Rumsey said.
Authement, who told police he is from Louisiana, was wanted for one count of first-degree burglary out of Phelps County, Mo., Rumsey said.
Authement was booked into the Kennebec County Jail, where he remained Monday, on the fugitive from justice charge. Maine and Missouri authorities are starting the process of working out his extradition to the Midwest.
“That’ll play out in the next couple weeks,” Rumsey said.
