AUGUSTA, Maine — A martial arts instructor from Augusta was arrested Wednesday after multiple child pornography images were found on his computer, police say.
Wade Hoover, 34, is facing a charge of possession of sexually explicit material, according to a media release from Department of Public Safety Spokesman Stephen McCausland.
Hoover is a staff member at the National Alliance on Mental Illness, and owns Kosho Warrior’s Martial Arts Studio and United Martial Arts Academy, both in Lewiston.
Hoover was taken into custody Wednesday morning at his National Alliance on Mental Illness office in Augusta, McCausland said. Children as young as 3 years old have spent time under his tutelage at the martial arts studios.
Upon receiving a tip, members of the State Police Computer Crimes unit and the federal immigration and customs enforcement agency went to Hoover’s office, McCausland said, and found he was using a personal computer to distribute child porn images via the company’s Internet service.
Hoover was arrested and taken to Kennebec County Jail, where he remains Wednesday afternoon. McCausland said officials at Hoover’s workplace are cooperating with police.
Additional charges are anticipated after officials go through Hoover’s computer, according to McCausland.
To distribute child porn, you have to be a sicko.
But to distrubute child porn AT WORK, you have to be INCREDIBLY stupid.
This is happening way too often. If convicted, he needs to be put in the general population down at Warren with a helmet cam. Then televise his “adventures” in the big house as a REAL DETERRENT to the rest of the little fecal stains out there. As a society, we need to land on these perverts with both feet.
This seems to be an up and coming trend, a most unfortunate one. I hope the courts start dealing with this more seriously than someone arrested for possessing weed. While I am no fan of any kind of drug that can be abused, legal or illegal, I would rather have a pervert in jail than a drug user all things considered.
The judges need to give these creeps the maximum sentence allowed. It won’t stop anyone else but it will keep thee creeps from becoming repeat offenders so soon.
