GLENBURN and BANGOR – Lillian “Lilly” W. Philbrook, 87, died unexpectedly Sept. 29, 2012. She was born Nov. 10, 1924, in Presque Isle, the daughter of Jasper and Alma (Dickey) Beckwith.
She was a welder at Bath Iron Works when she was younger. She met her husband, Hollis, at a local restaurant where he was a short order cook. Lillian worked at the Children’s Home, Bangor, for 25 years until her retirement. She was best known for her great sense of humor, and her love for going out for early morning coffee and muffins.
She is survived by her children, Raymond Moran of New Hampshire, Marion Eldridge of Northport, Patrick Philbrook of Bangor, Sylvia Braley of Glenburn and Steven Philbrook of Indiana; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Lillian was predeceased by her husband, Hollis Philbrook; son, Wendell Moran; daughter, Doreen Moran; and son-in-law, Dwight Braley.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, at Pine Grove Cemetery, Hammond Street, Bangor. Gifts in Lillian’s memory may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation of ME, 87 Elm St., Camden, ME 04843. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.BrookingsSmith.com.
