FALMOUTH, Maine — Police have charged a Westbrook man with attempted murder in the wake of a shooting in June.

Cory Reid, 28, who was already at the Cumberland County Jail on a previous drug charge, is accused of firing several gunshots into a Falmouth home on June 20, according to Falmouth police Lt. John Kilbride.

Several people were in the home on Route 1 at the time of the shooting, including a child, according to Kilbride. The occupants were not injured, but several bullets came within inches of striking them.

Kilbride said Reid is familiar with the victims, and the incident was not a random act.

Reid was arrested on the drug charges the day of the shooting after officers found cocaine during a raid of a Westbrook house.

  1. While I agree on the attemted murder charge I always wonder why someone who actually stabs or shoots someone gets charged with assault in many cases.
