WATERVILLE, Maine — Police are searching for suspects after two men were stabbed inside a downtown bar early Friday morning.
Waterville police responded to a call at the Bob-In on Temple Street at 12:28 a.m. for reports of a stabbing, Police Chief Joseph Massey said Friday afternoon.
Police discovered a man on the ground who looked like he had been stabbed, said Massey.
“He had slash marks on his face and shoulder,” he said.
When officers entered the bar, they discovered a blood trail leading to the bathroom.
“There was a significant amount of blood. It looks like it took place in the bathroom,” said Massey.
The man who had been stabbed and the patrons at the bar did not cooperate with police, he said.
Jake Dumais, 26, of Waterville was taken to MaineGeneral Medical Center in Waterville for his wounds. His condition was unavailable late Friday afternoon.
Upon further investigation, police discovered another blood trail on West Temple Street. A pair of glasses was on the ground where the blood trail ended.
Police called nearby hospitals to find out if any of them were treating patients for stab wounds. Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan said it was.
Jaquan Pugh, 22, of Waterville was treated at the hospital and acknowledged he had been at the Bob-In, according to Massey. Pugh was treated and released.
“He had some slashes on his face. When officers asked what happened, he said he was in the bathroom and saw blades flashing around. He pushed his way out and got cut,” said Massey.
Massey said it’s the fourth or fifth incident this summer that has involved a stabbing in Waterville. Most of them have been unresolved.
“People don’t want to talk to police,” he said. “The injured refuse to tell us who stabbed them.”

…
The Bob In ??
Real class.
Waterville?
Is that the Brockton ,Mass. of Maine ?
I feel like in these cases and situations people don’t want to talk to police because they do not wish to be subject to or involved with things that really have nothing to do with them. Of course, they could be scared for their own health, but keeping quiet and talking are basically the same in that regard. If they dont talk, they have no fear of retribution. If they do talk, the stabber goes to prison and cannot be a threat for many years. Not really much of a difference, in terms of personal saftey. Ive been in bars and seen some pretty nasty things happen and people pretty much glance over and then go back to their drinks, not to protect those commiting violent crimes, but simply because it isn’t their business and getting involved would not actually improve their lives at all. The beer they are drinking might for a time, though. Down the hatch!
Also, there’s lots of different kinds of bars and if you are a person who goes out for drinks you had best know which is which. The Draft Haus downtown Bangor is a bit different than Riverside in Brewer, for example. Certain establishments have well deserved repuations and people would do well to avoid those places they do not feel comfortable in to maximize the enjoyment of their time out.
It should be noted that by “people” in my first paragraph, I mean anyone who was a witness, and not the actual perpetratores or those involved in the melee itself.
I don’t know…any place that has guys hanging around in the bathroom is normal. If it’s for like two or three minutes. Unless they need to put on blush or something. But to much hanging around in the john isn’t good… and usually means the club you’re in is either gay or has heavy drug usage. Now throw in,” – he was in the bathroom and saw blades flashing around. He pushed his way out and got cut,” said Massey.-BDN” and it reminds me of a Lorena Bobbitt moment…knives, alcohol, jerks and urinating don’t mix well :) Back in the day, some bands I was in used to make the mistake of playing music for biker clubs/parties…Never ever bring your GF to that gigg I tell ya’ and be ready to play until the sun comes up.
