GUILFORD, Maine — A 15-year-old boy was arrested Tuesday afternoon and charged in connection with a string of burglaries in Sangerville last month and a recent armed robbery.

The juvenile from Sangerville, who is not being named by police, was apprehended in Guilford after he ran from police, said Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Guy Dow on Wednesday.

Two homes and 10 vehicles in Sangerville were burglarized over the course of two days, Sept. 8 and 9, Dow said last month. Video game consoles, cash, a video camera, a guitar and a handgun were stolen from the homes.

The 15-year-old was nabbed a month after those burglaries. He robbed a fellow juvenile at gunpoint this past weekend with the same gun he stole from one of the homes, said Dow.

“A parent called and said she heard a student was held at gunpoint,” said Dow. “It sounded like the firearm that was stolen from the house.”

Dow said he went to knock on the juvenile’s door, but he wasn’t home. He spotted a teenager walking down the street and approached him. The juvenile ran, but Dow caught him.

“He was in possession of a stolen knife from a car burglary and a stolen gun for the house burglary,” said Dow. “The gun was loaded.”

Other stolen items were also found in the juvenile’s possession, he said.

The boy was charged with Class A robbery, Class A burglary, Class B burglary, 10 counts of burglary to a motor vehicle and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.

He was taken to Mountain View Juvenile Development Center in Charleston, where he remained on Wednesday, said Dow. The boy is due in Dover-Foxcroft District Court on Thursday.

More charges could be pending, said Dow. Police are still working on the case.

“There may be other people involved in the burglaries,” said Dow.

  1. From an old baby-boomer view, Maine is really changing, I just read the above article in total dis-belief, but, one or all must wonder, where have we gone wrong?

    1. because we cant punnish kids any more we might hurt their feelings thank the aclu the liberal teachers and so on and so on.

  2. IMHO Parents have failed at being parents.  If I would have done 10% of what this kid did at that age I would have had my butt kicked.  This would have never happened, however, because when I was 15 I was working AND going to high school.

These days kids are told how special they are even if they really aren’t.  When it comes to school sports EVERYONE gets a trophy and not only the best on the team.  Kids are repeatedly told they don’t have to try to be the best – everything will be given to them.  And this is what happens. Sad reality.

    1. Do you have kids because not every child in school sports gets a trophy. In some local sports that have nothing to do with school they do but most school sports program do not hand out trophies for just showing up.

Plenty of kids are not told how special they are and receive no sort of positive feedback from their parent(s) and kids are not repeatedly told they don’t have to try to be their best. You are just spewing lies and nothing more.

I highly doubt this teenager was given positive reinforcement from his parent(s) and I doubt he is a high achiever or plays school sports.

      1.  I DO have a child, and at my daughter’s school, every kid who does a sport, gets a ‘participation trophy’. Heck, every kid makes the team. They have stopped issuing a prize to the team that wins Field Day at the end of the year, because ‘it wouldn’t be fair to the others’. It may not be that way at the schools you are familiar with, but it IS happening a lot more.

          1.  You’re right, she is in elementary school. But, do you think years of coddling a child like this is wiped away the instant they hit middle and high school? In her case, her school is so small that it has K-8 under one roof, with the same ‘fairness’ rules. As soon as those 8th graders hit high school, they are screwed. They’ve been told they’re special (and they are, just not to the degree that they are taught), everything is fair, and life is full of lollipops and kittens. It’s no wonder that things go awry with this type of teaching. Life is full of disappointments, and the sooner a child learns this, the better off everyone is.

  3. Who is this person that has been causing untold grief and terror
    around the area??
Print a name and post a foto so we can all stay clear of this
    menace to society.

Armed robbery, theft spree, break and enter…. what else ???
Let me guess… He drank a Moxie and ate 3 Little Debbies , so
we should coddle and protect this out of control sociopath?
No one is safe anymore and we have legions of overpaid milktoasts
    protecting the dregs of society.
        Crikee !

    1. I could not agree with you more! I am sure he is sitting in “jail” being waited on. Telling the other brat kids his story. They need to be punished so they will stop this foolishness. They are so enabled, it just seems ok to them. He will just be another one who goes in and out of jail his whole life. If they want to help these kids so much, punish them. They are not sweet little kids anymore when they start carrying loaded guns around and aiming them at people, threatening them. Death is forever, no taking it back. Our justice system really makes me sick.

  4. show his face, tell his name. he gave up his rights when he decided to become a criminal over a citizen.

  5. A “juvenile” doing burglaries & robbery of another at gunpoint, walking around with a knife and a loaded gun! These are big boy crimes and behavior, so let’s see his face and name….a 15 y.o. doing this could mean bigger problems in the future without an extreme behavior adjustment…..Crazy….

  6. I am so surprised that the anti-gun bleeding hearts club hasn’t been on here slamming the gun owner for having a gun in his/her house for this kid to steal. People are right when they say that parenting is a joke now. It has become too passive. Parents should be in control of their children, not the other way around. I hope this kid gets a crude wake-up call in juvenile detention. I hope he gets scared straight. I believe a couple rounds behind the woodshed wouldn’t hurt him either.

      1. Yes, Yes I do. I have two special needs children. Even with their handicaps They know mom is the “Boss”. My children are not out of control. They are respectful, polite and kind to others. I AM raising my children. Surprisingly, Neither one of mine has ever needed a trip behind the woodshed.

        1. And the majority of parents raise their children as you are doing. My daughter is not out of control nor are any of her friends. She has only told me about 1 kid in the past two years that causes a lot of trouble.

The large majority of parents do a great job but you never read about them doing so because their kids are not getting in trouble. Your rant is over a single child and for you to state parenting is a joke now doesn’t hold a lot of water.

          1. My comment is based on what I have seen. Case in point Cape-Hart. My brother’s Ex-girlfriend children(not His thank goodness). Only to mention a few.Not all that I have seen. From what I have witness, Good Parenting is becoming a rare breed. I know right now Their are wonderful parents,Like yourself out there. On the other hand,  I have a family member who works at a corrections place. They will not talk about the inmates, but I have seen the distress They are put through.

  7. This kid is def useless. His mother is useless and so is his brother. Hopefully they throw the book at him!
