NEWPORT – Ethel Storen, 88, died Oct. 9, 2012, at her residence. She was born July 20, 1924, in Brooklyn, N.Y., daughter of Benjamin and Agnes (Wallace) Pickering.
After graduating from high school she married John Storen Sr., who predeceased her May 6, 2002. They moved to Newport in 1960 with their young family. Ethel had been employed at Irving Tanning, Hartland. After retirement she enjoyed puzzles, crocheting, gardening and spending time with her family and dogs.
She is survived by three sons, John Jr. and wife, Shari, of Etna, Fred and wife, Mary Lou, and Edwin Storen, all of Newport; daughter, Agnes and husband, Mike Heegan, of Staten Island, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by three sons, William, James and Andrew; as well as several siblings.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Oct.12, at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main St., Newport, where friends may call 1 p.m. until the time of services. Private burial will be in the family lot at North Newport Cemetery. Those who wish may leave written condolences at www.CrosbyNeal.com
