Two men facing drug charges after heroin, pot bust in Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Maine — Two Fairfield men are facing drug charges after a search warrant turned up heroin, marijuana and oxycodone, police said.

Fairfield Police Chief John Emery said detectives from Fairfield, Waterville, the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency had been investigating a case involving Brian Scott, 24, and Zachary Gilbert, 29, since August.

On Friday, Fairfield police Detective Paul Kingston obtained a search warrant for the duo’s Upper Main Street residence, according to Emery.

At the same time police were executing the search warrant, Gilbert was pulled over on River Road in Skowhegan, during which police seized 17 packets of heroin and a quantity of marijuana, Emery said.

Meanwhile, back at the Main Street residence, 62 more packets of heroin and additional marijuana were seized, Emery said. The pot found in Gilbert’s car and the apartment reportedly added up to a pound.

Scott also had five oxycodone pills on his possession at the time of his arrest, and the street value of the heroin was between $20-25 per packet, Emery said.

Both men were booked into the Kennebec County Jail on charges of trafficking in heroin and trafficking in marijuana, both Class B felonies, while Scott is also facing a charge of possession of oxycodone, a Class C crime.

They remain incarcerated Wednesday.
