WATERVILLE, Maine — A conflict between two men over a woman resulted in three people, including a teenage girl, being arrested Monday night, according to police.
The trouble started when Clifford Dumont, 20, and a man at a Water Street apartment were sending each other threatening text messages, Waterville Deputy Chief Charles Rumsey said.
The situation escalated, according to Rumsey, when Dumont and two others, Junious Liggins, 32, of Waterville and a 14-year old Waterville juvenile broke into the apartment and assaulted two men and a woman who live there, according to Rumsey.
The trio of suspects kicked the door open at the apartment, according to Rumsey, while Liggins tallegedly hreatened the tenants with a knife and Dumont with a can of pepper spray. The juvenile also had a knife, but never used it in a threatening manner, Rumsey said.
All three suspects were arrested and charged with burglary, three counts of assault and theft, as one of the victims had a cell phone and wallet stolen, Rumsey said.
Liggins and Dumont remained at the Kennebec County Jail on Tuesday afternoon. Bail for Liggins is $6,500, $7,000 for Dumont.
The teenage girl was released to her parents’ custody. None of the victims suffered serious injuries, Rumsey said.

I dont see how they weren’t charged with criminal threatening as well as the other charges. Its a serious thing to break into someones home. They’re lucky the home owner didn’t own any firearms. (If the home owner did) it probably would of been a lot different.

What’s a 14yr old girl doing with a 20 yr old man and a 32 yr old man? Seems like the last person to release her to is her parents. If my daughter pulled that stunt the best thing they can do is keep her in juvee because the beating she would get from me would land me in jail and her in the hospital.
