EAST MACHIAS – Alice L. Woodman, 87, left her earthly home which she shared with her “Noelle” the cat, to enter her heavenly home where she has anticipated joining her late husband, John. Alice passed early Saturday morning, Oct. 20, 2012, at Down East Community Hospital. She was born to Simon Hall and Mabel Davis Hall on March 20, 1925, in Kennebec, as the youngest of six children.
Alice attended Kennebec schools and graduated from Machias High School. She went on to receive her degree from Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa. The joy of her life was music which she taught, played, and sang. The love her life was John. Family and friends were her treasures.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Loretta, Edith, Greta and Allegra; her brother, Charles, a niece, Beth Marlene; and a nephew, Gaylon. She leaves three nieces, Ava, Jannell and Audrey: two nephews, Clayton and Duane. She also leaves her “former” family whose love she never lost. Next are several generations of nephews, nieces and cousins, and last but not least, Leslie, who was her trusted life line in her time of need.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24 at Community of Christ Church, North Street, Machias. Burial will be at Jacksonville Cemetery, East Machias. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family by visiting Alice’s book of memories at www.mcclurefamilyfuneral.com.
