BAR HARBOR – Marcia Delores Lawford, 77, passed Oct. 23, 2012, at Mount Desert Island Hospital, Bar Harbor. She was born April 4, 1935, in Springfield, Ill., a daughter of Harold and Isabelle (Wisely) Cunningham.
In May 1973, Marcia married Homer Lawford at Nativity Lutheran Church, Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. Marcia and Homer moved to Maine in June 1973. Marcia devoted her life to helping those in need through multiple charities; with her most important work coordinating “Christmas Is For Kids” through the Jackson Laboratory. She loved spending time with her family, especially enjoying her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marcia is survived by her husband, Homer of Bar Harbor; son, Keith Poirier and fiancee, Barbara, of Fort Myers, Fla.; daughters, Terri Zabala and husband, David, and Jeanette Howie and husband, Kenneth, all of Bar Harbor; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and brother, Harold Cunningham of Rockville, Va. She was predeceased by her parents; and brother, Duane Cunningham.
A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at St. Saviour’s Episcopal Church, Bar Harbor, with the Rev. Timothy Fleck officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Oakdale, Ill.
