BANGOR, Maine — Bangor police are asking for the public’s help in tracking down a suspect or suspects who stole a lawn tractor on Aug. 26.

Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said in a news release the orange 2011 Kubota, which has two rear baggers and a diesel engine, was stolen from Greenway Equipment on Outer Hammond Street around 10:40 p.m. that evening.

Two months later, nobody is in custody for the theft of the mower, which has a value of $11,500, the sergeant said.

However, police have released surveillance images from the scene of a pickup truck arriving at the business, a suspect running across a back lot and a suspect leaving the scene with the mower on a trailer.

Mitchell Smith, who co-owns Greenway, has distributed and signed a letter offering a $1,000 reward on information leading to the arrest of those responsible, according to Edwards.

Officer Wade Betters has been working on the case, according to Edwards, and anyone with information regarding it should contact Betters at 947-7382, ext. 5754. Those wishing to leave an anonymous tip can use extension 6.

  1. Wow! That truck looks familiar. That guy looks familiar! A white guy & black truck. That will definitely narrow down the list of suspects to only around 500 w/in the area.  This case is almost solved!

(Edited to acknowledge my sarcasm & also say that I understand the reasoning. They gave the guy a couple of months to feel in the clear & start using it, hoping that a neighbor or acquaintance would make the connection & rat him out)

  2. All they need to do is steal about another 25k and if they get caught they could look at about 60 days of jail time
