HAMPDEN, Maine — A local man, arrested Sunday by Bangor police on an outstanding warrant, was arrested again on Tuesday, this time for threatening his ex-girlfriend, Hampden Police Chief Joe Rogers said Wednesday.

Timothy P. Doughty Jr., 39, of Hampden, who formerly lived with the 31-year-old victim, kicked in the front door of her residence on Main Road North at about 5:10 p.m. Tuesday and made threats to harm her, the chief said.

“He said he was going to end her,” Rogers said, reading from the police report.

Doughty left before Hampden officers arrived but he was quickly located and charged with domestic violence assault, criminal mischief and criminal threatening. He was taken to the Penobscot County Jail in Bangor.

Bangor police Officer Jim Dearing picked up Doughty on the outstanding warrant at about 7 a.m. Sunday. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)

  1. There have now been way more than enough lessons learned in Maine on the subject of Domestic Violence Homicide that it needs to be jail without bail until trial for this fool.  We now have only two DVH’s in Maine (Hampden, Waldoboro in July) so far in 2012 when compared with 11 in 2011…even though the case in Old Orchard Beach (grandson killed grandmother) is also being called Domestic Violence Homicide even though there was no intimate partner involvement in the death. That one was actually a family homicide.  Let’s make sure that this dude has a zero percent chance of adding to the 2012 DVH problem in Maine.

  2. We need to start teaching our daughters the signs and to get the frig out when they show those signs not to try to save them or think they can change them. If he hits you he will do it again GET OUT.

    1. Yeah, I completely agree with you. We gotta teach little boys the same thing too. We also need to make sure there are plenty of resources available for both genders who are escaping abusive situations.

    2. Yes, and we need to support organizations such as Spruce Run, who help women and kids to escape from domestic violence situations and make a new life for themselves.
