JAY, Maine — Police were called to the Spruce Mountain Ski Slope on Tuesday after someone reported seeing a bulldozer being driven up the middle of the mountain, Jay Cpl. Jeffrey Fournier said.

The witness drove to the site because he thought it was odd to see a bulldozer going up the middle of the mountain. The person driving got off it and ran, Fournier said.

Fournier, Jay police Detective Richard Caton IV and police from Livermore Falls, Wilton and Franklin County Sheriff’s Department with a police tracking dog assisted. A garage door was found open. The incident remained under investigation late Tuesday afternoon.

  1. Seems to me if someone were stealing this dozer, they might be headed DOWN the mountain…just a thought.  Maybe the GPS was broken…

  2. As usual, I’m confused. Where was the open garage door? On the side of the mountain?
Was the dozer still there when the authorities arrived?
They leave some easily followed tracks. Were there any and where do they lead (or did somebody pick it up and carry it off) ?
This ‘story’ isn’t so urgent that an incomplete one has to be posted….
